INFORMATION ABOUT BEMOWO

Bemowo is a young district of Warsaw,

situated on the western part of the

Vistula River.

It has 24,95 km2 and about 110,000

people live here.

THE NAME

The name comes from the surname of General Józef Bem.

His statue stands in front of the district

hall.

HISTORY

Bemowo became a part of Warsaw in 1951 and it was first a part of Wola district.

Bemowo became a separate district of Warsaw in 1994.

INTERESTING PLACES

Art.Bem is the cultural centre in Bemowo. It is in Górczewska Street. You can learn there to paint, draw, dance, sing or play different instruments and

much more.

Military Academy of Technology is a

university for soldiers and civilians. It is

situated in Boernerowo and there are many dormitories near the

academy.

FAMOUS PEOPLE On Bemowo Airport there

are many big concerts. A lot of famous people performed here, e.g.

Michael Jackson (1996), Madonna (2009), AC/DC

(2010) and Metallica (2010).

A lot of famous people lived or still live here,

e.g. actress Małgorzata Socha, politician

Ryszard Kalisz, singer Maryla Rodowicz
