Snakes and LaddersRules of the Game: Assemble the materials. See "Things You'll Need" for the materials.Understand the goal of the game. The aim of the game is to be the first player to reach the end by moving across the board from square 1 to square 100. You will travel the board from base to top, right, and then left and so on.Commence playing. The first player to roll 1 can enter the board (sometimes it is 6). Each subsequent player must also throw a 1 or 6 to enter the board. The dice must be rolled again to show the number of squares that the player entering the board may move initially. Place the marker on the appropriate square.Continue playing. You each take a go. The person with the highest amount starts first. The person with the second highest goes 2nd and so on. BUT DO NOT MOVE THE COUNTER.Snake: if a player lands at the tip of the snake's head, his or her marker slides down to the square at the snake's tail.Ladder: if a player lands on a square that is at the base of a ladder, his or her marker moves to the square at the top of the ladder and continues from there.Students answer questions, fulfill task written on board game, examples tongue twisters, react and act, do pushups and pumping and so on.Complete the game. The first player to square 100 is the winner but you must have the correct number on the dice to land on the 100 mark.

Article Jeopardy/ Double JeopardyTopic: Parts of Speech

Game Instruction: Divide the class into 3-4 teams (best for small classes, but can be played with larger ones. Choose a team to start. The team can select a question (any question); the more difficult the question, the more points they get. After a question is presented, first team to raise hand, slap desk, etc. gets to answer, BUT: after volunteering, they must answer quickly (start talking within 2-3 sec) or they will LOSE that number of points. (This deters premature hand-raising to "pre-empt" other teams.) Also, if the answer is wrong, they LOSE that number of points. If they answer correctly, the team can pick the next question. But remember, ANY TEAM CAN ANSWER ANY QUESTION.

Question GameTopic: Questions

Game Instruction: The Teacher chooses a card and reads it aloud (this is the "answer"). The students must then ask questions that would elicit such an

answer. (For example, if the card says, "Yes, I can." then the students should ask a question such as, "Can you speak English?") You can play this game "game-show style," having the kids say "Ding!" if they think they can say the correct "question. The teacher rings the bell once if the question is incorrect and rings the bell twice

if the question is correct.

Telephone GameBook: Focus on Pronunciation

Rules of the Game: With the telephone game, the teacher takes advantage of students’ cell phones to execute the game. Write down numbers from 0 to 9. Write words with confusing sounds alongside each number as shown. With these words and numbers on the board, the game can begin. One student tells the class his/her number by saying the words that correspond to the numbers on the board. For example if I am the student and my number is 254338, I will say the following words: that, sink, they, say, say, thank. The other students have to punch in the number on their phone as the student says the words that match the numbers. Later, they will say the phone number that number to see if they heard it right. If they got it right they get a point.

Running DictationBook: Dictation

Game Instruction: Divide the group into two teams and have them stand in single file lines. Whisper a somewhat complex sentence (according to their level) into the ear of the first person in each line. Make sure no one else hears. Give the same sentence to each line. Then each person must whisper it into the ear of the next person until the end of the line. The last person must either say the sentence or write it on a whiteboard. The team whose final sentence most resembles the original one wins. In case of a tie, the fastest team wins. (Try giving an easy sentence to start with to build confidence before moving onto a difficult one. If the game is too hard in the first round, learners will decide it's no fun).
