Even before the colonial period, the various groups that inhabited the Philippine islands already had a literary tradition that showcased their rich culture and their links to neighboring lands. Ethnic groups had their own epics which explained their histories, customs, and beliefs. They also had varied narratives as in myths and legends which, like epics, involve the supernatural. Moreover, the early Filipinos also had their own poetic forms such as in folk lyric, folk songs, and dirges. Needless to say, we truly have a precolonial literature that we can be proud of.

For a paragraph to be effective, it must be sufficiently

developed and it must have a coherent unit of thought.

Therefore, it must have a topic sentence, supporting details to

Most people do not realize that they have more than one vocabulary level. In fact, everyone has four different vocabularies- a reading vocabulary, a listening vocabulary, a writing vocabulary, and a speaking vocabulary. There are words that you understand when you hear them, but you may not use them in your daily speech. There are words that you recognize when you read that you may not normally use in your writing. Similarly, there are words and expressions that you use in your speech but not in writing.
