From the General Manager

From the President

Welcome to Spring! The warmer weather is generating more activity at the club. A special thank you to our staff for an outstanding Easter buffet. We served 209 people, which is a significant increase from last year. Please welcome our new members—Luke and Jennifer Arndt, Justin and Jennifer Neuman, and Rick Nunez and Glenda Wyrick. At our March board meeting we completed the contract to sell the lot on the lower tennis courts. We should close on this sale in April. We will be adding a new concrete pad for sand storage. The carpet in the Mixed Bar and Grill and the Pro Shop has been replaced. As mentioned at the annual meeting, there is minimal in-crease in monthly dues of $5.00 for all golf memberships beginning April 1st. The major event for April occurs at the end of the month, when we help host the Glass Blown Open sponsored by Dynamic Discs. This is a major event for our community, and we are glad to do our part. With April, golf activities resume on a more formal basis. We have contracted with Dick Stuntz, a certified course superintendent, to help oversee the maintenance of the course until we hire a new superintendent. Our club has a lot to offer; invite a friend to become a member. Bill Barnes Club President

First I want to thank the Kitchen and Service Staff for their efforts Easter Sunday when the Club hosted 209 for Brunch. Food was outstanding, desserts were plentiful and the staff did an terrific job accommodating all who attended. To help us for future holiday events please make your reservations early and consider reserving early at 11 or 11:30am and give us an accurate number in your party. We monitor reservations each half hour to insure that we are able to provide great service and assist the kitchen with food prepara-tion. The great news is we increased reservations over last year by 100%. Bill Linhart will be managing the Pro Shop for the Club again. Bill is scheduled to be with the Club from May 1st through September 30th and will be working with me during the April Men’s League. Please join me in welcoming Bill back and helping the Club during the busy Golf Season. The Club has retained Dick Stuntz, with Oak Golf, Inc. to manage the golf course. Dick Stuntz, CGCS (Certified Golf Course Superintendent), who is the founder, principle owner and president of Oak Golf brings 37 years of experience in nearly all facets of the golf industry with 30 years at Alvamar in Lawrence. Dick brings agronomic and course maintenance expertise that is sought out by Kansas State University and other area golf courses and clubs. To facilitate this process Perry Steele has been promoted to Crew Su-pervisor and reports directly to Dick. Working with Dick we have identified a number of processes that are being put in place to help to develop our golf course. The last three months have gone very quickly and we continue to work hard to make improvements in all areas of the Club. The Club needs your help. If you are inter-ested in being a volunteer for the Glass Blown Open, on a Club Committee or help with our ongoing clean-up efforts please give me a call or email me [email protected]. Sincerely, Donald Schrack, GM
