EGA Fact sheet – A Helpful guide Weather What’s happening with EGA given the forecast storms, big rain events and flooding? EGA is an all-weather event. We are predicting that the recent rain will make tent pegs nice and easy to push in, insect repellant will be quite important, and that plastic-lined picnic blanket and/or low lying camp chair will be necessary items as the ground will still be damp. Our outdoor/indoor auditoriums are one of the things that makes EGA so special and we are certain with a few additional items packed, the recent rains won’t dampen your EGA experience. What is the weather forecast? The worst of the weather has already passed over the Eildon area, with sunshine and light drizzle forecast from Tuesday onwards, with showers forecast for Thursday, clearing Friday. Is EGA an all weather event? I don’t like getting damp/having to experience anything less than perfect weather. Yes, it is an all weather event set in an outdoor environment, so pack for the elements and the beauty of the great outdoors. There are, however, indoor spaces and areas to take refuge from the elements. Will EGA be washed away in the storms? No, the Conference site is located at a high elevation, with good drainage. There are a number of indoor and under shelter spaces within the symposium. For attendees staying with the Secluded Luxury or Travelling Light rooms, the road from the Highway to the conference site is a well-maintained gravel road. The EGA organizing team have had no difficulty driving up the road in small hatchback vehicles, nor does the 57 seater coach. So it’s been very wet, what extra things should I bring? A plastic backed picnic rug or small/low lying chair or even a simple garbage bag and a cushion would work in a pinch. A small inflatable lilo would also work well. An umbrella (handy for sun or rain) and perhaps a raincoat/poncho. Spare pair of shoes and definitely a few extra pairs of warm socks – waterproof shoes are always a good idea.
