I feel sadness at the joyous moments of this last year that are behind and waning in my memory. Yet a warm joy wraps itself around my nostalgic emotions. I sense something new ahead. For the infinite God revealed Himself afresh in 2011 and is preparing even more delightful revelations in the coming days. Isn’t time a compelling evidence to God’s existence? Even with all the technology and knowledge at my disposal and no matter how hard I have tried, and all mankind with me, time is uncontainable. No clock, day planner, iCal program, photo, family video, keepsake, or tradition stops time. In my devotions leading up to New Year’s weekend I was meditating on the nature of God. The Eternal, Omniscient One has all moments at His immediate and full recall. There is no expression “I remember it like it was yesterday” in the divine vocabulary for all time is eternally present. Wow! Who is this One we serve? Exalted be His name! There is much more I could say concerning this but I want to share with you a prayer I re- discovered this week and have begun praying. It was written by A.W. Tozer in his book, “The Pursuit of Holiness.” It seems to put 2012 in perspective for me. As we move forward as a church allow this prayer to put your plans and plannings into their proper place... O God, be Thou exalted over my possessions. Nothing of earth’s treasures shall seem dear unto me if only Thou art glorified in my life. Be Thou exalted over my friendships. I am determined that Thou shalt be above all, though I must stand deserted and alone in the midst of the earth. Be Thou exalted above my comforts. Though it mean the loss of bodily comforts and the carrying of heavy cross, I shall keep my vow made this day before Thee. Be Thou exalted over my reputation. Make me ambitious to please Thee even if as a result I must sink into obscurity and my name be forgotten as a dream. Rise, O Lord, into Thy proper place of honor, above my ambitions, above my likes and dislikes, above my family, my health and even my life itself. Let me sink that Thou mayest rise above. Ride forth upon me as Thou didst ride into Jerusalem mounted upon the humble little beast, a colt, the foal of an ass, and let me hear the children cry to Thee, “Hosanna in the highest.” Amen. (Tozer, p.101-102) For His Glory, Pastor Mike EFC FOCUS JANUARY2012 EFC CHURCH PRAYER TUESDAYS @ 7PM All are invited to join us for this time. Prayer requests can be emailed to the Community Pastors or turned into the prayer box at the Family Gatherings. The youth will be switching t o T U E S D AY N I G H T S , starting JANUARY 10th. We will still be meeting at 6:30pm, but will be meeting in the fellowship hall, instead of downstairs. We have already outgrown the little room downstairs, and the fellowship hall will give us tons of space, as well as a ping-pong table, foursquare space, and adequate space for our professional yo- yoers in the group. This will give us the most options for expanding, as well as gives us more space for crazy games and fun. We have developed the name Praxis Youth Ministry. The word praxis is Greek and has the idea of the living out of beliefs. One of my passions is to see students living authentic faith, in which they live out what they believe, rather than just vocalizing a "faith" and then completely ignoring the life change that should happen with those beliefs. Skate Night, Saturday, January 21st. We will be having a skate night for the youth at Skate Deck in Everett. We will meet there at 4:30pm and skate until 7:30pm. The cost is $7, and renting in-line skates is $1 extra. If students bring a friend that doesn't normally attend, the cost will be $4 for both them and the friend. 30 Hour Famine, Friday-Saturday, April 27-28th. Let me know if you are going to be part of this event! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Pastor Max 509/607-6023 or [email protected] . Register for Blizzard! Blizzard Snow Camp is coming on January 27-29th. This is for 2nd-6th graders and provides 3 days and 2 nights of an incredible experience for children to grow in their understanding of God, the Bible, friendships, and family relationships. Financial assistance is available if needed. STAFF NEEDED: We are assembling our camp staff that will serve the children. This is a great opportunity for youth to develop in their leadership abilities. Camp staff is responsible to cover their lodging and food costs ($85). Dear EFC,

Another year has ticked its last tock and the new year is underway. “2012” is the placeholder we used to mark the here and now as time continues to slide past.

EFC Annual Christmas Party: We enjoyed a time of worship, a special Christmas story from Fain Randall, a message from Pastor Mike, and then sweets and fellowship. The white elephant exchange was a ton of laughs for all ages! We were blessed to have so many new friends join us for the evening.

Baby dedication of Nathan: Perry and Lisa Travis dedicated themselves to raising their youngest son, Nathan, to know Jesus Christ. They sought the s u p p o r t a n d encouragement of EFC in this adventure and we concluded this time by circling and praying over their family.

Christmas caroling for the elderly: We visited Bethany at Silver Crest and Silver Lake on Sunday, December 18th, sang Christmas carols, and delivered cookies to the precious folks who are not able to get out like they used to! What a joy to deliver the hope of Jesus’ coming through music and allow the children to be part of this event. Way to be Jesus skin Cuddy, Travis, and Wright families!

Christmas Eve Service: It was a joy to collaborate with our brothers and sisters in Christ at Hope Church in our Christmas Eve service. It is a joy to partner with Pastor Marty our brothers and sisters at Hope Church in proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ in our community!

Community Group Weekend: The Ripley’s and Wright’s group met on Friday evening for dinner, fellowship, a family lesson, and prayer. The Bell’s group met on New Year’s day for some football and fellowship. The format for new groups have included an object lesson for the kids, a video where Pas tor Mike shares , questions based on the video, and prayer time. The adults have some time after the family lesson to discuss the lesson as well. These groups are critical in the life and spiritual growth at EFC!

Comforting homeless Teens of Seattle: There was a team of 17 who headed down to feed homeless teens in Seattle at New Horizons in December. Check out the pictures of our team this month!
