PURPOSE

• Safely dirext exhaust gases to atmosphere• To produce required thrust• Gas must be expanded completely and

discharge in laminar and axially oriented flow• Material from nickel alloys or titanium subject

to high gas temperature.

SUPERSONIC NOZZLE

• Divergent shape• When nozzle is

choked, upstream pressure increase above atmospheric.

• Pressure different provide pressure thrust

AFTERBURNERPurposely to provide suddent thrust for fighter aircraft

NOISE SUPPRESSION

• Noise result :– From rolling vortex produce by rotating blades

interacting with stationary vane – From mixing of jet efflux with cold ambient air

• Method :• Using honeycomb for intake and casing• Using Suppressor nozzle (lobe and corrugation)

THRUST REVERSAL

• Control by lever mounted forward of thrrottles• It rotate the airflow and directed airflow 450

• Purpose :– Aid in braking – Aid in directional control– Reverse aircraft out of parking
