Footy memorabilia can be pretty exy but if you still like to showcase your team colours here’s an easy way of personalizing storage lockers at home so they feel just like a professional athlete’s.

Tash, editor of Handyman magazine, is a big footy fan. ‘I get warm fuzzies when I see my team’s logo and colours. So I thought the boys would like it if we made

them part of the team with their own footy shield. Putting their names on it ensures there’s no mix-ups.’

MATERIALS REQUIRED • 2 pieces of cardboard, one dark, one light • A shape to trace around or your own shield

design • Adhesive letters, about $2 for a set of three

alphabets from The Reject Shop • Scissors and scalpel to make the cutouts • Pencil or pen • Spray adhesive from a stationary store • Painter’s tape

HOW TO 1. Print out a shield you like or design one yourself on a piece of paper, keeping it simple with some sections cutout so show a contrasting colour behind it. TIP Make sure all the pieces are joined, just like a stencil. 2. Cut out the logo out to use as a template using scissors or a scalpel, position it on the dark cardboard and hold it in place with painter’s tape. TIP Painter’s tape is low-tack so it can be removed without leaving a mark. 3. Trace around the outside of the sheild and mark the cutouts then remove the

template and cut out the shape using scissors or a scalpel. 4. Tape the shield shape onto the light cardboard to mark around it, adding about 3mm all around. Remove the template then cut out the shape. 5. Use spray adhesive to position the pieces together. 6. Add the self adhesive letters to make the name then spray the back of the shield with adhesive and position it on the locker front. STYLING
