Drumlin Farm Camp has provided children with memorable experiences in nature since 1956. We are delighted to offer summer camp experiences at three unique locations.

Our programs encourage campers to explore local habitats while connecting them to the joys and wonders of the natural landscape. Campers ages 4 to 17 have fun and make new friends as they learn about nature and farming through outdoor exploration, animal encounters, hands-on activities, games, hikes, crafts, and more.

PROGRAM Drumlin Farm’s CIT program is an experience in leadership training. CITs work alongside our counselors to share their love and knowledge of nature with younger campers. Each session, they are assigned an age group to work with for the full week, developing bonds with campers and assisting with camp programs.

Daily meetings give CITs a chance to share experiences, learn more about nature and agriculture, and build a community of supportive peers. Ongoing feedback from staff helps CITs find and develop their individual teaching and leadership styles as they write and teach creative new lessons.

CAMP SPIRIT CITs also play an important role in our camp community, teaching campers games, crafts, and lessons, participating in All-Camp Gatherings, and leading the entire camp in songs, skits, and the ever-popular game, Predator/Prey.

CIT TRAINING CITs must attend a mandatory training on June 21 and 22. A two-session commitment is required to participate. Fee includes CIT training and camp tuition. Additional CIT sessions may be attended at no charge. Session choices are Nature Camp 1, 2, or 3 and Farm Mania 2.

CAMP STAFFOur camp staff consists of dedicated and mature educators, naturalists, and college students who are looking for more than a summer job. They have experience working with youth, knowledge of and a connection with nature and farming, and a deep commitment to sharing that connection with children.

Many of our counselors are camp alumni. There is a real love of our sanctuary and a shared belief that it is a truly special place. Our tight-knit staff community creates a more cohesive and enjoyable experience for our campers. It’s easier to pass on a smile when you have one yourself!

TRAINING From day one of our intensive two-week staff training, we foster a sense of community and compassion among our counselors. Each counselor brings something new and unique to the table, and by nurturing different styles and ideas, we enrich our camp year after year.

Counselors are trained in child development and supervision, health and safety procedures, natural history, farm animal training, and environmental education. They are all CPR and first-aid certified and have undergone background and reference checks. In addition, we have a licensed nurse on-site at Drumlin Farm, access to an on-call doctor, and local EMS services just a half-mile away. Wolbach Farm and Assabet camps have access to an on-call nurse and doctor, and local EMS is three miles away. Our staff strive to keep campers happy, healthy, and safe.

Mass Audubon protects 37,000 acres of land throughout Massachusetts, saving birds and other wildlife, and making nature accessible to all. As Massachusetts’ largest nature conservation nonprofit, we welcome more than a half million visitors a year to our wildlife sanctuaries and 20 nature centers. From inspiring hilltop views to breathtaking coastal landscapes, serene woods, and working farms, we believe in protecting our state’s natural treasures for wildlife and for all people—a vision shared in 1896 by our founders, two extraordinary Boston women. Today, Mass Audubon is a nationally recognized environmental education leader, offering thousands of camp, school, and adult programs that get over 225,000 kids and adults outdoors every year. With more than 125,000 members and supporters, we advocate on Beacon Hill and beyond, and conduct conservation research to preserve the natural heritage of our beautiful state for today’s and future generations. We welcome you to explore a nearby sanctuary, find inspiration, and get involved. Learn how at massaudubon.org.

OUR CAMP GOAL is to establish a lifelong connection between campers and the land by providing positive experiences with nature and agriculture. Camp activities are carefully planned to meet this goal while creating meaningful and memorable experiences at the same time. At the heart of our camp program are three leading concepts:

INTERDEPENDENCE: We emphasize the interdependence of all living things. Campers learn about natural cycles and the interconnectedness of people, wildlife, and habitats.

STEWARDSHIP: Through our emphasis on community and interdependence, campers learn to take responsibility for their world through sustainable farming and the conservation of wild open spaces.
