Current Capacity, Enrollment, Live-In Counts, and Building Utilizations The following are school capacity statistics for review. These statistics will be utilized to compare and assess school boundary options. The table to the right details the State Rated Capacity (number of students each building can hold) for each building, as well as enrollment and live in counts. The enrollment column shows the number of students currently (2013-14) enrolled in each building in the study area. The K-5 Live In column reflects the number of K-5 grade students (BCPS) that live within each of the current attendance boundaries. Utilization is a term that defines how much of a school building is being used. Looking at the live in utilizations, it is evident that there is a need to add capacity to the area to bring schools at or below 100% utilization. The final column shows the number of students over the state rated capacity for each building. The table shows that every school within the study area is over capacity, some being much higher than others such as Padonia, Pot Spring, and Sparks. A few things to note about the table. Cromwell Magnet is located in the Hampton boundary, and there are 99 students who live in Hampton but attend the magnet school. This is why the live in count for Hampton is so much higher than the enrollment total for Hampton Elementary School. The state rated capacity for Hampton reflects the most recent construction performed on that school. The total utilization at the bottom of the page shows 115.5%, which does not include the new 700 seat school that is planned on the May’s Chapel Site. If this school were included in this table, the total utilization of the study area would be 100%. Sparks Elementary school is on the list to have capacity added to the building, so impacts on this school should be minimized because additions to this building will address their current overcrowding.

DRAFT Options A1-D1 The following tables present DRAFT options for the committee’s review. Keep in mind that any/all options are considered draft through the duration of the project, and anything is subject to change. Any of the following options can be changed per feedback from the committee, public, and BCPS administration. Options A1-D1: Enrollment Estimates The following table reflects the DRAFT options enrollment estimates. These are based on K-5 grade student live-in counts.

Options A1-D1: Utilization and Over/Under Estimates The following tables reflect the DRAFT options building utilization and over/under estimates. The utilizations are based on K-5 grade student live-in counts versus the state rated capacity. The over/under counts reflect how many available seats each school has with the subsequent option. Negative numbers reflect available seats, and positive numbers are the total over capacity.
