Dear God,On The White House Blog, I read the following:During an interview with ABC News, President Obama said,

“I think same-sex couples should be able to get married.”It’s no secret the President has gone through some soul-

searching on this issue. He’s talked to the First Lady about it,like so many couples do. He’s heard from folks - gay and les-bian friends, staff members in long-term, loving relationships,as well as brave young servicemen and women he got to knowthrough the fight to end Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

He’s sat around his kitchen table with Sasha and Malia, whohave friends whose parents are same-sex couples. As thePresident said during the interview, “it wouldn’t dawn on themthat somehow their friends’ parents would be treated differ-ently. It doesn’t make sense to them. And frankly, that’s thekind of thing that prompts a change of perspective — notwanting to somehow explain to your child why somebodyshould be treated differently when it comes to eyes of the law.”

In the end, the President said, he believes it’s important to“treat others the way you would want to be treated."We needto recognize that people are going to have differing views onmarriage and those views, even if we disagree strongly, shouldbe respected.

It is quite interesting to me that President Obama, who con-fesses to be a follower of Jesus Christ and a born againChristian, never mentioned that he sought counsel from Godon this issue. In the following passages it states:

Proverbs 19:21 “Many plans are in a man’s heart, But thecounsel of the LORD will stand.”

Romans 11:34 “For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THELORD, OR WHO BECAME HIS COUNSELOR?”

Proverbs 21:30 “There is no wisdom and no understandingAnd no counsel against the LORD.”

Psalm 33:11 “The counsel of the LORD stands forever, Theplans of His heart from generation to generation.”

The authoritative Word of God is the ultimate counsel thatwe as Christians must keep hold of. The Word of God willnever change; it is the same yesterday, today and forevermore.We will all stand accountable to that Word one day, as willPresident Obama. I pray that his soul searching be done byGod and not swayed by man.
