KESSEL spring cap

Standard C drainage channel

with frame made of galvanized steelFor increased demands, such as required at large parking spaces,

entrances to factory premises, pedestrian zones or other public

areas, the KESSEL Standard C drainage channel has been equip-

ped with an additional steel frame in contrast to the Standard

model. This allows for a load capacity within the trafficable area of

up to 25 t (Class C).

No downward slope is incorporated into the channel. Three diffe-

rent mounting heights allow for installation in stepped gradients.

The start and end pieces of the body are equipped with appro-

priate profiles to ensure an easy connection of the structures to

each other.

To cover the channels, which are available in lengths of 50 cm

and 100 cm, you can choose from the following gratings:

barred grating, galvanized

meshed grating, galvanized (Class B)

double-barred grating, galvanized (Class C)

cast slotted gratings (Class C)

Trapping boxes as transition pieces to the sewage water system

are equipped with galvanized sediment buckets and removable

drain traps.

Standard drainage channel

For domestic use - around homes, terraces,

garages, driveways etc.

(suitable for passenger vehicles).

The KESSEL Standard drainage channel is ideally suited for

domestic drainage of terraces, garages, driveways and courty-

ards.

Tongue and groove connection as well as the low weight polymer

concrete channel makes installation quick and easy.

The KESSEL Standard drainage channel cover is also equipped

with a locking mechanism which keeps the cover in place

preventing damage or deformation of the cover.

The special “U” shaped channel base design optimizes hydraulic

flow through the channel providing a self-cleaning effect.

fully perforate the deformation using a point chisel. Lateral deforma-

tions can be worked in advance using a drill and boring head to avoid

breaking the channel.

Always start laying the channel at the deepest point of the system,

the trapping box and the tubing in the building drain, and then

feed to the outer end of the drain run. When doing this, always

make sure that the face side/abutting edge of the channel is free

of dirt and deposits, to ensure a tight connection between the indi-

vidual channel bodies.

Make sure that the channel is well-seated across all of the concrete

bed, without any cavities. KESSEL recommends that there is an

overhang of the concrete foundation at the end of the channel train

to ensure sufficient load distribution.

To ensure correct installation each channel is equipped with flow

direction arrows.

The upper edge of the channel should be permanently approx. 3 to

5 mm deeper than the subsequent covering of the drainage surfa-

ce. Please observe any possible recompaction and settling pro-

cesses.

When compacting the surrounding areas, the channel must be

protected against mechanical damage. To avoid the body of the

channel being pressed together, the gratings must be inserted

The foundation base of the trench must be carefully compacted to eli-

minate any sub-soiling caused by excavation. Before installing the

channel, a granular sub-grade course and level contact area for the

concrete foundation corresponding to the gradient of the channel

must be made.

Stepped gradient:

The stepped gradient is implemented by channel bodies of various

heights.

integrated gradient/slope:

Recesses in the body of the channel within its base for connecting

drain pipes must always be struck by a hammer from the inside to the

outside. To do this, place the channels flat on the ground and open

them by carefully striking with the tipped side of the hammer. To

avoid cracks undesired breaks, KESSEL recommends that you care-

Channels can be directly connected to the adjacent surface.

The concrete foundation backing should be filled to the same height asthe channel cover.

The quality of the concrete foundation backing must always corre-

spond to the quality of the surface.

The road/park surface should be installed directly up to the channel

body - there should be no gaps or spaces. In the case that fitted or

cut stones are used, a line or runner stones between road surface

and channel should be installed.

When using concrete runner stones the transitions to any subse-

quent concrete pavement must be constructed with an expansion

joint and with sealing.

Channels may be shortened on-site. If doing so, make sure that

the shortened channel is installed at the end of the drain run. The

cut edges of the channel and of the grating should be deburred.

After shortening, gratings should be equipped with at least one

locking mechanism.
