Hello Division 10!My name is Ryan Coffey and I have the honor to serve as your

Lieutenant Governor. I am so excited to start off the new service year and to work with you in order to better our community and world. I am sure that you all have so many wonderful ideas about service projects and fundraisers, and I look forward to hearing all of them. I want to thank all of you for your commitment and dedication to Key Club and for making the world a better place.

In the following months, I want you to remember that all the work that you put in for Key Club really makes a difference. As Key Clubbers, we have a tremendous ability to help so many people in so many places- it truly is magical. If we keep that in mind, then all of the hard work that we undertake will have a meaning for us that will make it all worth it.

This year, the 66th Annual Leadership Training Conference was held in the Desmond Hotel in Albany, NY from March 27-30. The theme was Magic, which was very fitting because it was genuinely a magical experience. It was a great chance to, meet other Key Clubbers, to learn about Key Club, and to find out about new, exciting fundraisers and service projects. This experience made everyone a better and more educated Key Clubber.

I had the privilege of being the Lieutenant Governor Elect for Division 10, and this really transformed my whole experience. I met so many new Key Clubbers and a lot of the new District Board, and everyone I met was so nice and welcoming. This weekend was really the epitome of the Key Club spirit: teenagers from all around New York State coming together to have fun and learn more about Key Club. Everyone walked away from this weekend more informed and more excited about Key Club!

On May 23rd, Tottenville Key Club and Gaynor McCown Key Club joined their sponsoring Kiwanis Club, North-Central Kiwanis, for an extraordinary night at the Staaten. The event was a prom for autistic teenagers, who otherwise wouldn’t have a prom. Everyone had such a good time, and it was truly moving to see so many happy and excited faces. It was a great feeling to see a smile that you were responsible for. This is my best experience in Key Club so far, and all of the other Key Clubbers that came had a blast. This is the second year that North-Central is holding this event, and it is even spreading to other Kiwanis Clubs in Brooklyn, which really makes me happy. These kids and their families have gone through so much, and it is great to allow them to have one night to have fun, to relax, and to party!

June Divisional- This Friday on June 6th at 5:00 we are holding our first full Divisional at McCown High School. All officers must come, and as many members that can come should come. Please advertise this to your club. The McCown High School officers and advisor put in a lot of effort to hold this event in their school, so please make sure that there is a lot of support, both from you and the members.Scavenger Hunt- On June 8th, we will be holding a Scavenger Hunt in Clove Lakes Park. Teams of Four will compete to find a list of items and collect them, or take pictures of them. It cost $40 per team ($10 per person). All profits will go to the Eliminate Project, which helps vaccinate mothers, and children in third world countries from tetanus.Divisional Training Conference- On June 14th Divisions 9 and 10 Key Club are holding a joint Training Conference at Midwood High School. It is a great chance to learn more about Key Club and have a fun time with your friends! We will have workshops that will go over everything from running a fundraiser to college 101. It cost $10 to attend, and this admission price will include lunch.

While this year will be great, there are goals and demands that must be met in order to ensure success. I would like increased communication among Key Clubbers of every level; there first needs to be a link between me and the officers, and then between the officers and the members. The KEY to running a successful event is to make sure that people know about it and want to attend, so make sure to increase communication for everyone. This will help us have a great year.

Many people say that service is giving and not receiving, but that is not true. When you give your time, energy, and money, you get back infinitely more than you put in. You get back the satisfaction and reward of knowing that you were a good influence. As Key Clubbers, we experience this all the time, and I hope to continue this in the upcoming year. This year is only going to be what you make of it, so if you put in the time and energy, it will be rewarding and satisfying. Please work with me to make this year great!

This years International Convention (ICON) is taking place in Anaheim California from July 2-6. This convention is a great opportunity to expand your ideas about Key Club, and get a sense of how big Key Club really is. Key Clubbers from all over the country and world all come together to learn more about Key Club and to help them become better leaders. I am attending this year in order to make myself a better Lieutenant Governor and to represent Division 10 Key Club! Although it is too late this year, I urge you all to consider attending ICON in the summer of 2015! It will be a fantastic experience for you, and you will have on of the best weeks of you life, so please go!

projects through a Monthly Newsletter, Service Project Spotlights, and
