CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK HOSPITALS

The mission of Chil-dren's Miracle Network is to raise funds and awareness for our local Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. These funds provide vital medical equipment for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit . They also provide emergency transport vans for premature babies, pre-natal and after birth education for parents and recreational items for child friendly hospital visits for children. Funds raised remain locally to help create

miracles of health and healing for babies and children of our local communities. (http://childrensmiraclenetworkhospi-tals.org/About/Children). Have your club fundraise money for our service partner or make get well soon cards to be sent to one of our local hospitals at your next club meeting.

UNICEF ELIMINATE PRO-JECT

One of Key Clubs main Service Partners is UNICEF. Currently, they are

trying to eliminate Neonatal tetanus from the world. It is Key Clubs mission to try to fundraise 110 Million dollars for this cause by the year 2015. Just $1.80 can help save a mother and her fu-ture babies from this disease. Have your club watch the Elimi-nate Video to become educated about this cause and try to fund-raise money. Adviser) gave me some tips on how to get Kiwanis Clubs to sponsor the Key Club members in Division 10 to go to DCON, ICON, or even Key Leaders.

First, let the President of your Kiwanis Club know that you are coming to their meeting. Bring some of your Key Club members too. Second-ly, talk about what event you want them to sponsor. Thirdly,

Creating a strong rela-tionship with your clubs spon-soring Kiwanis Club is very beneficial. Kiwanis Clubs want to help support their Key Clubs in any way possible. They will even sponsor some Key Club members to go to special events. At the January Board Meeting Mrs. Greenhagen (Region 3 Lieutenant Governor

talk about the cost of the event and how much you want them to pay. You can ask them to pay for about a third of the cost. Then talk about the benefits of attending this event and what you will be doing there. In return, give a presentation on what went on at the event and what activities you participated in. Also, bring more Key Club members to their next meeting.

A Word from our New Lieutenant Governor

sion.

Personally I love art, music, movies, and fashion. If I had to pick, I would say my favorite artist would be Claude Monet. I listen to a wide range of music, such as alternative, indie, and punk. One of my favorite musicians is Lana Del Rey. I am interested in pursuing a career in the medical field and desire to work with children or

trauma patients.

I just attended the January Key Club Board Meet-ing where I had the opportunity to learn about my upcoming responsibilities. I am excited to visit the clubs in Division 10 and to meet other Key Club members. I am looking forward to the challenges of this role and the opportunity to serve you as a Lieutenant Governor.

Hi my name is Rachel Radtke and I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. I will be the Lieutenant Governor for Division 10 this upcoming year. I am a junior and currently the President of the Key Club at Batavia High School. I have always been drawn to helping make a difference and Key Club offers the foundations I was looking for to fulfill this pas-

DCON is only a few weeks away. Make sure that you are promoting DCON as much as possible to your club mem-bers. I have posted a DCON promotion video on the Divi-sion 10 Facebook page. Please show this video at your next club meeting. I want their to be great attendance from our divi-sion.

Here are some things to keep in mind. Program Ads need to be mailed by February 18th. You can purchase one if you want to give your Key Club

or a Key Club member a shout out in the DCON pamphlet. The deadline for DCON regis-tration is January 31st. Please sit have all of your club mem-bers and your advisers sit down and register together online as a group. The cost is $166 and this includes all of the meals and the room for four people. This year at DCON their will be a hypnotist. You may get the chance to be hypnotized. Also, the Spastic Paralysis walk will be March 1st at night. You will need to mail $20 will the Spas-

tics form by February 8th to participate. I will attach all of these forms to an email I will send out tomorrow.

For awards, clubs can still apply for International Awards ( Single Service, Major Emphasis, and Annual Achieve-ment Awards). I will attach the application form. The deadline is February 4th. They need to be mailed to this address: Mr. Hall 28 Candy Lane Murphys-boro, IL 62966

unlimited bowling games, pizza, drinks, and bowling shoes. All of the money goes to our Dis-trict Project: Spastics Paralysis. Keep promoting this event dur-ing your Key Club meetings and include it in your agendas.

You will get a chance to bowl, eat free food, partici-pate in a raffle, as well as meet-

The Division 10 Bowl-a-Thon will take place on Feb-ruary 23rd at the Bowling Green Sports Center. To par-ticipate in this event you will need to pay an entrance fee of $15.00. You can either fund-raise money or pay out of pock-et.

The money pays for

ing other Kiwanis and Key Club members in our division. Mor-gan Murphy, our Key Club District Governor, will also be attending. If you will be travel-ing with your Key Club Adviser, you will need a permission slip. I will attach one of this email. If you have any questions please contact me.

$20 this year. You can do this by having club members and students donate any spare change during lunch hours in a jar. Another way to raise money is to have a bake sale.

For Division 10, there will be a Bowl-a-thon on Febru-ary 23rd sponsored by the Divi-sion 10 Kiwanis Clubs to raise money for Spastics. I am hop-ing we raise about $1,000. Keep

promoting this event to your clubs.

Also, if you are going to DCON, you can participate in the Spastics run/walk. You will need to mail $20 to Mr. Greenhagen by February 8th (I will attach the form to this email). There will be prizes awarded to the first, second, and third place winners.

Spastic Paralysis is a series of diseases that affect the central nervous system. This is our District Project. Our goal for this year was to raise $30,000 for research and medi-cal care. We have only raised $8,000 and are not even half-way to our goal. I want Division 10 to try to raise as much mon-ey as possible for this project. I want each club to raise about

The next Divisional Council Meeting will be on February 2nd. All Key Club Officers and Advisers are invit-ed. It will most likely be at the St. Charles Public Library.

Please bring at least 3 non-perishable items. All of the can goods will be going to the St. Charles Local Salvation Ar-

I will also be inviting some Kiwanis members, the Region 3 Lieutenant Governor Advisers, the St. Charles Noon Kiwanis President, and the St. Charles Noon Kiwanis Treasur-er. I will see if I can invite the other Division 10 Kiwanis Club Presidents so that way we can talk about if they can sponsor some Key Club members to go to DCON, ICON, or Key Leaders.

If you have any questions please contact me.

Service Project Ideas

Governors helped make paper hearts that said “be mine” and “happy Valentine’s Day” on them to be put up on the walls of a retirement home.

Another Service Pro-ject you can do during a club meeting is called Socks of Love. You fill one sock with necessi-ties like a toothbrush, hair comb, soap, shampoo, small toys, and the other sock of

course! Then you can donate the Socks of Love to a local homeless shelter. If are looking for more Service Project ideas, you can always look on Pinter-est and YouTube. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Here are some Service Project that your club can do to benefit your community. Valen-tines Day is coming up. You can contact you local retirement home and ask if they are hosting a Valentine’s Day dance/ party for Seniors living there. You and your club members can help decorate the room. At the January Board meeting, all of the current and new Lieutenant
