• Interesting Fact: San Juan is the oldest city in U.S. territory, founded in 1521 by Ponce de Leon.

• This makes it the oldest city under the American flag.

• Interesting Fact: Puerto Rico was first called by its native Tainos, Boriken; or land of the brave lord.

• Interesting Fact: The word “hurricane” came from the native Tainos living in Puerto Rico.

• Interesting Fact: In 1634 construction begins on massive walls around San Juan to protect it, unique in the New World.

• Interesting Fact: In 1508, the first school was established in Caparra Village, the first settlement established by Juan Ponce de Leon.

• Interesting Fact: The oldest church still in use in the Americas is found in San Juan which was built in 1522, La Iglesia de San Jose.

• Interesting Fact: The flag has an important meaning….

• Red stripes - the blood from the brave warriors.White stripes - victory and peace after obtaining independence. Blue triangle - the sky and coastal waters. White lone star - the beautiful Island.

• Interesting Fact: The coconut palm tree was introduced to the island from the Pacific in 1542 by either Portuguese or Spanish traders.

• I spent some time reading my summer reading books in this library.

• The books were called Animal Farm and Big Mouth and Ugly Girl.

• I used to come here once a week to eat a ½ pound bacon cheese burger

• Won customer of the month

• I used to come hang out here with my friends.

• My brother and his friends were often found here playing tag.

• I used to come here and play basketball with my friends.

• The rim was bent so it was harder too shoot.

• I used to come here to eat a dozen munchkins.

• We met an elderly lady here and we thought she was a ghost.

• Used to come here to eat two plain slices of pizza.

• Best pizzeria in town.

Café Cubano

• Came here to eat a Cuban sandwich or also known as “un cubano”.

• It was a nice atmosphere because it was never packed with people.

• Liked the meatball sandwiches.

• It was running out of business so everything was cheap.

Minit Mart

• Used to come here because it had a great variety of Arizona's.

• The employees weren’t very polite and they didn’t want me to take this picture on the side.

Ho Mei Kitchen

• Used to come here everyday to eat pork fried rice for lunch.

• Best Chinese food in town.

Depkin Field

• There were times where everyone from the grade used to meet up here.

• This was the main place to hang out.
