Title Grinnell Old-style Upright Sprinkler, Oblong Bulb, Year Unknown, Vertical VR Object

Subject Fire sprinklers

Subject Sprinklers

Description An early model of an old-style sprinkler, for which a significant fraction of the water is designed to spray up to wet the ceiling, whereupon it will fall to the floor. As a result, the water distribution from one of these will

be uneven and fairly concentrated nearest the sprinkler. The bulb for this model is elongated,

approaching the design of more current sprinkler bulbs. Rotation about the vertical axis provides a view of the bulb and frame arms of the sprinkler; a related object with a horizontal axis of rotation is available

elsewhere in the library. This sprinkler is for use in a fire protection system.
