  • Leukaemia is a

    malignancy of the bone

    marrow.

    It affects the cells that

    produce white blood

    cells.

    The main types of

    childhood leukaemia

    are acute lymphoblastic

    (ALL) and acute non

    lymphoblastic (ANLL).

  • ALL are classified according to immunophenotype:

    T-cell 9.5%

    B-cell 4.1%

    preB / common 86.2%.

ANLL are classified according to the FAB classification.

    M1-M2 acute myeloid 32.1%

    M3 promyelocitic 35.7%

    M4 myelomonocitic 17.9%

    M5 monocitic 7.1%

    Other 7.2%

    (b) Acute non-lymphocytic leukemia

    (c) Chronic myeloid leukemia

Current classification in epidemiology is the

  • ICCC-3, based on ICD-O-3
