ANDY WALKER Professor and Geneticist University of California, Davis Department of viticulture and enology weekly enology-Viticulture 199 Seminar Series Wednesdays from noon to 1 pm—enology building #102 Dr. Andy Walker received his MS in horculture and PhD in genecs from UC Davis. He is a faculty member of the Department of Viculture and Enology at UC Davis where he teaches general viculture and grapevine idenficaon. He held the Louis P. Marni En- dowed Chair from 2000 to 2015 and has held the Louise Rossi Endowed Chair in Viculture since 2015. Dr. Walker has been breeding grapes for nearly 30 years. His lab focuses on grape breed- ing and the genecs of resistance to pests and diseases where he breeds rootstocks for resistance to nematodes, phylloxera, fanleaf, drought and salinity, and wine grapes with resistance to Pierce’s disease and powdery mildew. Dr. Walker has authored over 150 peer-reviewed papers and has held offices in many pro- fessional organizaons including the Technical Program Director (2011-2015) and Secre- tary—Treasurer (1999-2004) for the American Society for Enology and Viculture (ASEV); and Chair of the Naonal Grape Crop Germplasm Commiee (2004-present). He has re- ceived many professional honors for his outstanding work in genecs.
