Barge traffic of coal, chemicals, petroleum, and agricultural products moves past pushed by tugboats that salute residents with their horns

Demopolis is a regional healthcare center for the area. It is home to the award-winning Tombigbee Healthcare Authority (THA), which operates a 99-bed hospital in Demopolis. THA provides a wide-range of inpatient and outpatient surgical care, Emergency Medical Services support, home-health, HealthSmart, Sleep Clinic, and Geri-psych services.

Through a networking of various agencies within the Tombigbee Healthcare Authority, a broad range of healthcare services is available for patients in the medical service area.
