Highway 80, Highway 43, and Interstates 20 and 59 connect west-central Alabama to four major cities in greater Alabama. Highway 80 also serves as the primary transportation corridor for highway traffic to and from central Mississippi and Montgomery, Alabama.

Demopolis is situated on the southern end of the Tennessee Tombigbee Water System and is only 212 miles from the Port of Mobile.

Barge traffic of coal, chemicals, petroleum, and agricultural products moves past pushed by tugboats that salute residents with their horns

•The South Industrial Park has over 80 acres available with all major utilities present.

•The Airport Industrial Park has over 140 acres available and has all major utilities present with limited sewer connectivity.

The Demopolis Airport Industrial Park has over 100 acres of available property.

The South Industrial Park is located off Marengo County Highway 21 (2 miles south of U.S. Hwy. 80).  It is a fully developed site with paved roads, city water, and sewer system.

Current tenants include:  Jennings Service Company, Arrow Management Services, Gaddy Electric & Plumbing Services, Foster Farms, Waste Management, and J&M Roofing and Metal.

Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital:

Demopolis is a regional healthcare center for the area. It is home to the award-winning Tombigbee Healthcare Authority (THA), which operates a 99-bed hospital in Demopolis. THA provides a wide-range of inpatient and outpatient surgical care, Emergency Medical Services support, home-health, HealthSmart, Sleep Clinic, and Geri-psych services.

Through a networking of various agencies within the Tombigbee Healthcare Authority, a broad range of healthcare services is available for patients in the medical service area. The Outpatient Service Center brings a number of specialists to the community for weekly clinics to supplement the numerous family healthcare doctors found in Demopolis.

Demopolis has three antebellum house museums. Bluff Hall and Lyon are thought to be the inspiration for Lionet in Lillian Hellman’s The Little Foxes. Gaineswood is one of the nation’s best examples of Greek Revival architecture.
