A decimal is a fractional number and is indicated by digits after a period which is called a decimal point.
Line up the decimals.
Fill in the empty spaces with zeroes.
Compare from the left.
Find the rounding place. Look to the right of the rounding place. If the number is five or greater, round
up. If the number is less than five, your
rounding place stays the same. Numbers behind the rounding place turn
to zeroes in FRONT of the decimal. Numbers behind the rounding place fall
into the water BEHIND the decimal
Line up the decimal points.
Fill in any empty spaces with zeroes.
Add or subtract like you would whole numbers.
Bring the decimal point down.
Line up the numbers.
Count the number of digits behind a decimal point
Multiply the numbers like you would whole numbers
Put the decimal at the end of the answer and move it the number of places you counted in step two.
Move the decimal to the end of the outside number.
Move the decimal the same number of places on the inside number.
Put the decimal on the roof. Divide like you would with whole
numbers. If you have a remainder, add zeroes
behind the decimal and continue dividing.
