Digital graphics are any images that are produced using software or a computer program. There are many different varieties of programmes you can use, most popular are:

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF DIGITAL GRAPHICS?

The purpose of graphics is to make it easier and quicker for people to receive information that is processed and spread. Adverts and a billboard are good examples of graphic information being spread.

JPEG (FILES ENDING IN JPEG)

A JPEG is a type of computer file used for storing images.

Most of the pictures are JPEGs JPEG is an abbreviation of “Joint Photographic

Experts Group.” Jpg is a lossy format, when the camera creates

and image and then saves it to jpg (depending upon how much it compresses) it discards

information, then when you manipulate an image, you discard even more information. The more you manipulate the more the image degrades.

GIF (GRAPHICS INTERCHANGE FORMAT)

A type of GIF image that can be animated by combining several images into a single GIF file. GIF animation doesn't give the same level of control and flexibility as other animation formats but it has become extremely popular because it is supported by nearly all Web browsers. In addition, animated GIF files tend to be quite a bit

smaller that other animation files, such as Java applets.

BMP (BITMAP)

Short for "Bitmap." The BMP format is a commonly used raster graphic format for saving image files. It was introduced on the Windows platform, but is now recognized by many programs on both Macs and PCs.

The BMP format stores colour data for each pixel in the image without any compression. For example, a 10x10 pixel BMP image will include colour data for 100 pixels. This method of storing image information allows for crisp, high-quality graphics, but also produces large file sizes. The JPEG and GIF formats are also bitmaps, but use image compression algorithms that can significantly decrease their file size. For this reason, JPEG and GIF images are used on the Web, while BMP images are often used for printable images

PSD (PHOTO SHOP DOCUMENT) (Photo Shop Document) Photoshop's

native, layered file format, which is a D factor standard in the graphics arts industry for bitmapped images. The layers enable an illustration to be created from individual graphic elements that can be moved around repeatedly, one on top of the other, until the desired result is obtained. The PSD file is often retained as a master and exported to JPEG, GIF and other graphics formats that are commonly required. In the process of conversion, the layers are removed, and the file is said to be "flattened”.
