4 Parameter management

4.1 Abbreviated numbersAbbreviated numbers are employed by users to reach external correspondents.

In practice, users dial a simplified number on their set and the PBX automatically dialsthe corresponding external number (see Alcatel OmniPCX 4400 - Telephone facilitiesdocumentation).

A table of 15,000 abbreviated numbers maximum can be created (0 to 14,999).

These numbers are declared in different «sections» (0 to 399), used to define user accessto abbreviated numbering from their operating category (management carried out by theinstallation technician).

For each abbreviated number, up to 15 different aliases can be created. These aliases are theadditional names used in the «Call by name» facility.

A section can only contain the abbreviated numbers whose indexes are successive (e.g.: 101to 150).

A distinction must be made between the direct abbreviated numbers and the abbreviatednumbers by section.

Direct abbreviated numbersThe user activates transmission of the number by dialling a prefix. All the direct abbreviated numbers are stored in the same single section, which is global asregards the network whose content is automatically distributed to all the nodes in this network. This section cannot overlap on the other «abbreviated numbers by section» sections.

Example: section of the first index 100 and of length 300

Abbreviated numbers by sectionAs a complement to the direct abbreviated numbering used by the entire network, abbreviatednumbering by section is used to manage:• abbreviated numbers specific to the nodes,

• abbreviated numbers specific to the entities, across the network. To send an abbreviated number, the user dials a prefix corresponding to the section followedby the order number in this section. The abbreviated numbers are contained in one or more sections, numbered from 0 to 399.If necessary, these sections can overlap and even be superposed.Example: 200 abbreviated numbers are distributed in 3 sections with 1 section having 95 numbers, 1section 10 numbers and 1 section 105 numbers.

Example:

Prefix for section 1 = 11

Prefix for section 2 = 12

Prefix for section 3 = 13

The user with access to section 1 dials 1150 to reach the abbreviated number with index 50.

The user with access to section 2 dials 12104 to reach the abbreviated number with index 199.

The user with access to section 3 dials 139 to reach the abbreviated number with index 104.

If an ISDN access is planned in the installation, as well as the «AUTOMATIC ATTENDANT»option, all the abbreviated numbers by section offer correspondent identification on ISDNi/c, the i/c ISDN numbers being translated into a repertory names. A user called by acorrespondent whose number is declared in abbreviated numbering will see the repertoryname of this correspondent on the display of the set.

Direct Abbr.No PrefixComplete the prefix (8 characters maximum, 0 to 9, A to D and *).This prefix is automatically inserted in the translator prefixes table.Users dial this prefix to send the corresponding call number.

Call NumberSupply both the o/g bundle seize prefix and the number to be sent on this bundle. The digits of the number stored, including the seize prefix (20 maximum) must be declaredone after the other. They must not be separated by spaces, dashes or other signs to indicate, for example, any intermediary tones.

Example:

Seize prefix for o/g bundle: 0. The external number is: 01 55 66 70 00.

Enter the stored number as follows: 00155667000.

A stored number can contain up to 20 digits maximum. The «end of keyboard» equivalent can be entered by the sign * at the end of the numberstored if this number is less than the format declared.

The repertory name can have a maximum of 20 alphanumeric characters.

Directory First Name1The repertory first name can have a maximum of 20 alphanumeric characters. The repertory names and first names are displayed on reflex and digital sets equipped withdisplays, as well as on the attendant terminals.

BarringIf this parameter is validated, the content of the abbreviated number is subject to barringcontrol according to the public network access category allocated to the caller.

Overfl.Dir.Abbrev.No Pref. This information is supplied to validate the overflow when the o/g bundle is fully busy. Itscontent is equal to the prefix of a direct abbreviated number.

Auto.Attendant Calling RightComplete this item with a number (0 to 31) corresponding to a category number defining theoperating rights granted to the caller (priority, overflow possibility, access to voice mail, etc.)and entered by the installation technician. The value taken by default is equal to 0.This category, taken into account in the «Automatic attendant» facility, is used if the caller canbe recognised by his ISDN identifier (the caller number must be contained in the abbreviatednumber).

Call TypeThis item is used to define the type of call from the following:

• Normal,

• VIP,• Internal,

• IP,

• ISVPN.This function is used on attendant terminals and sets to distinguish the ISDN «i/c» callsaccording to their importance.

Timed Forward.Dir.Abbrev.No.Complete this item with the full abbreviated number prefix. If the initial «open» abbreviatednumber is not completed by the user before a time-out, the PBX automatically sends the callnumber corresponding to this overflow direct abbreviated number.

Example:- Prefix 3500 corresponds to number 0015566. Time delayed overflow number: 3501- Prefix 3501 corresponds to the external number 00155667000 (attendant).

The user dials prefix 3500. The PBX generates the number 0015566.

1. Entering the repertory name and first name is used to fill in the equivalent «Call by name» fields automatically. Thesefields have 12 characters only for the name and 8 characters only for the first name.

This feature is used to direct a calling party user to a directory number in accordance with thenumber requested. It is mainly used in the Teleservice.

Principle:

If the number requested is filtered and associated with a filtering index (by the systemmanagement), the call may arrive at a directory number (routing), provided that the number ofthe calling party user can be identified by an abbreviated number by section.

If this is the case, the call is directed to a directory number entered in the item «Routingnumber».

Filtering indexThis item characterises the number called.

Routing NumberThis item is used to enter the directory number to which the call is directed, taking intoaccount the calling party number (indicated by the abbreviated number) and the numbercalled (indicated by the filtering index). If the item is empty, the call is directed to an overflow directory number managed at systemlevel.
