PURPOSE OF THE POST

I initially started off to serve clients and to repair incoming products. This carried on until I knew the business. After a period of time I started to assist the owner with the purchasing and selling of the products. At the end of each day I assist in balancing the books and take stock of what has been sold. The owner showed his trust in me by putting me in charge of the shop during his absence.

As it was a temporary position and the owner also intended to move to Cape Town I decided to move to East London, to stay with my father and seek employment.

Oct 1997 to Jan 2000 Shoprite Checkers

PURPOSE OF THE POST

In October 1997 I started with Shoprite Checkers as a trainee Manager. My duties Include:

1 Frontend and Cash Office* Cashing of cashers* Speed points* Clearing of tills through taking till readings* Authorisation of cheques

* speed dialling* Check of front safe twice a day.* Dropping of cash received during the day* Doing spot checks on cashiers* Ensure that the float cash bags supplied to cashiers are correct* Customer queries and day to day solving of operational issues

2 Back-Admin* Handling off all pro-formas received the previous day* Adjustment of invoices to pro-formas* Balance and unbalanced pro-formas

3 Capturing* Of invoices and catalogue of orders and filling orders

4 Receiving* Matching of invoice to catalogue and ensure that the order number match

catalogue* Match catalogue to computer to see if stock were ordered* If no catalogue or order number are found stock will not be received* Ensure that the delivery received is for your department or store* Checking of trucks

A priority was to ensure that the airlock system is in operation when receiving.I have completed and passed the above modules.

Feb 2000 to Dec 2007

Started my own Buy and Sell second hand shop, but due to a graduate decline in financial and profit problems I had to close the business down.

Jan 2008 to Jun 2008

Worked at Best Electric in Receiving and stock control. Was also responsible for closing and opening of shop.

I also attended and completed a property consultant course in Cape Town Strand with Willem Estate Agents during July and October 2008.

Nov 2008 to Jan 2009

Worked at Orion Motors in Heidelberg as a second hand car salesman. I resigned due to personal problems in East London.

Feb 2009 to DateWorked for my uncle Mr LF Groesbeek as a sales rep in his steel engineering business. Parts of my duties were to seek new business opportunities. Due to the poor economic climate and ill health my uncle decided that the business is not viable anymore and is in the process of closing it down.

I don’t like to do things halfway or in half measures. Lack of skills and knowledge of a new job is made up through my attitude. If you have an employee with 30% knowledge, 30% skills and 40% attitude you get a 100% employee. I am totally committed therefore I would like to think that my attitude is 95%. I will thus go out and acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to do the job, and will be worth 200%+ to the company hiring me.

Although I am a team member I sometimes have a problem in delegating certain tasks. I rather do it myself than do it over.
