CLYDEUNION Pumpsa leadingprovider ofpumping solutions

300 years of pumpingexperienceCLYDEUNION Pumps is one of the world’s leading

providers of pumping solutions. We were formed in

November 2008 from the joining of Clyde Pumps

and Union Pump, which brought together some of

the most respected products, people and heritage

brands in the business.

The two companies that form CLYDEUNION Pumps have a

rich heritage and combined history of over 300 years of

pump production and development. Clyde Pumps was

formed in May 2007 when the Weir Pumps (Glasgow)

business was acquired from The Weir Group plc, but its

roots go back to 1871 when brothers, George and James

Weir, founded the engineering company of G.& J.Weir.

Union Pump has an equally impressive pedigree and had

been producing high technology pumps since its formation

in 1885 in Michigan, USA.

Today, CLYDEUNION Pumps is structured into six customer

focused business units. Our business units are at the

heart of everything we do and provide their expertise

across the upstream oil, downstream oil, nuclear

power, conventional power and water and industrial

sectors. In addition, our truly global aftermarket

capability ensures our customers are fully supported and

receive exceptional care.

Page 4: CUP VS4 Brochure

The CLYDEUNION Pumps CUP-VS4 is a vertical

suspended, single-casing volute, line-shaft driven

sump pump. All units comply with API 610.

There are hundreds of CLYDEUNION CUP-VS4 pumps

operating worldwide, on a variety of sump applications,

manufactured in a variety of alloys. The units have been

designed to suit customer requirements with lengths

available up to 6m sump depth.

ADVANTAGES OF WET SUMP INSTALLATION

• The ability to pump fluids with high vapour pressure

• Extraction from depths that would be impossible withconventional pumps

• A permanently submerged and fully primed pump end

• Sealing problems minimized, as a primary pump seal isnot required

• Space saving

EASE OF MAINTENANCE

The simple construction of the CUP-VS4 pump offers ease of

maintenance and reliability. Options are available for non-

spacer and spacer couplings dependant on sealing option.

PUMP CONFIGURATION

With a wide variety of materials, pump and motor

combinations along with an extensive range of column

lengths, the CUP-VS4 is already established as the first

choice for many customers.

This, combined with an unsurpassed international service

network, clearly reflects our commitment to be the “Best in

Class” for your pump supply.

PUMP DESIGN SPECIFICATION

Sealing Options

The CUP-VS4 has a distinct advantage over a VS1 style pump.VS1 pumps discharge through a central column, generatinghigh pressure in the gland area. By contrast, the CUP-VS4does not pressurize this area and is therefore able to utilizereliable low cost seal arrangements.

Twin Lip Seals

• Very reliable, costefficient method of shaftsealing for CUP-VS4 onunpressurized, generalsump applications.

Single Cartridge Seals

• Both contact and non-contact technology canbe employed dependingon duty conditions.

Dual Cartridge Seals

• For high integrity, zeroemission sealing, theCUP-VS4 is available withdual seals in dry or wetconfiguration.

CP Seal System

• CP Systemtechnology offers aproven history inimproving seal life, particularly undervarying suctionpressures.

• The unique CPSystem designprovides anexcellentmechanical sealingenvironment in themost demandingprocess conditions.
