Ruminations 22 Autumn 2011 Celebrating Success, which occurred on Saturday, August 20, 2011, was indeed a “success”! We were fortunate enough to have approximately 80 people from our community join us to really focus on the positives in life. We shared a wonderful meal together consisting of a variety of ethnic foods ranging from Greek Salad to German Sauerkraut & Kielbasa. Afterwards our guests enjoyed a carnival type atmosphere offering children’s activities such as face painting, bobbing for apples, and balloon animals. Also set up outside were booths from the LGBTQ Interfaith Network, PFLAG, Essential Oils, handcrafted jewelry, and homemade body scrubs. Our wonderful yoga instructor, Mariangela Mancuso, led a group of guests in yoga on the front lawn. Our day continued with a Zumba demonstration that had the whole crowd dancing and having a great time! Dr. Chaudhary loved it so much that he is even considering starting a Zumba class here at S’eclairer! Our Women’s Group did a tremendous job leading a drumming circle using drums that they created themselves. We wound down the celebration by having some stories of courage around the fire and poetry by our guest, Rick St. John. It was wonderful to share such a joyous occasion with everyone and we hope that next year can be just as fun and exciting! Celebrating Success! Crystal Longanecker, M.A., MFT
