    THE WORM AND THE BEETLE

There once was a caterpillar and a beetle thatwere friends, they spent hours chatting. Thebeetle was aware that his friend was verylimited in mobility, visibility was very restrictedand it was very quiet compared to others of itskind. The worm was well aware that his friendcame from another room, eating things thatseemed uncomfortable and was very fastforliving standards, had a grotesque image and

spoke very quickly. One day, the beetles matequestioned her friendship to the worm. Howwas it possible to walk both to go to find theworm? To which he replied that the worm waslimited in his movements. Why was a still friendwith a bug that does not return the greetingsthat the beetle was gushing from afar? Thiswas understood by him, and he knew about hislimited vision, often did not even know thatsomeone greeting him as he realized, could nottell if he was to answer the salute, but stoppedfor not discussing. There were many responsesin the beetle sought to question the friendshipwith the worm, which in the end, he decided to

test the friendship away a time to wait for theworm will look. Time passed and the newscame: the worm was dying, as his bodybetrayed him by so much effort, every day Ilearned the way to reach her friend the nighthe was forced to return to their place of origin. The beetle decided to go without asking yourcompanion what she thought. Along the wayvarious insects told the adventures of the wormto know what had happened to his friend. Theytold of how exposed every day to go where hewas passing nears the nest of birds. How tosurvive the attack of ants and so on. Came thebeetle to the tree where the worm lay waitingto go to a better life. Seeing him approaching,

with the last strength that life gives you toldhim how glad he was alright. He smiled one lasttime and said goodbye to his friend knowingthat nothing bad had happened. The beetleashamed of himself for trusting his friendshipin other ears that were not his own, had lostmany hours of joy that conversations with hisfriend gave him. At the end he understood thatthe worm, being so different, so limited and sodifferent from what it was, was his friend, whom I respected and wanted not so much forthe species to which he belonged but becausehe offered his friendship. The beetle learnedseveral lessons that day: Friendship is you andnot others, if you cultivate in your own being, you will find the joy of a friend. Alsounderstood that time does not limit thefriendships, not races or limiting his own orthose of others. What most impressed him wasthat time and distance do not destroy afriendship, are the doubts and fears that affectus. And when you lose a friend a part of yougoes with it. The phrases, gestures, fears, joysand dreams shared in the cocoon of the trustgo with it. The beetle died after a while. Neverheard him complain of poor who advised him,for it was his own decision to put their

friendship in foreign hands, only to see it sliplike water through fingers. If you have a friend do not put into question

what it is, therefore casting doubt reap fears.Do not focus too much on how he speaks, howmuch you have, what you eat or what you dobecause you're putting your trust a brokenvessel. Recognizes the wealth of those who aredifferent from you and is willing to share theirideals and fears, as this feeds the spirit ofsurvival rather than a good meal. returning to

rejoice in this life had been found. "I will gothrough life once, any good thing I can do orany kindness that I can do to any human, I donow because I will not back out there."

    HINDU LEGEND

the Lama gave teachings at the monastery'smonks and novices. Following the doctrine ofthe Buddha, placed particular emphasis oncapturing the transience of all phenomena, aswell as to quiet down, leave your thoughts and,

in deep meditation, receive the gloriousemptiness the voice of the enlightened mind.Ancient methods showed his disciples so theycould drain away the thought and mind ofuseless content. - EMPTY, EMPTY - tirelesslyexhorted the disciples. So one day and anotherday with the sameinsistence that the water flowing within theriver or the decline continues at dawn. - EMPTY,EMPTY. Both insist on it, some disciples cameto visit the teacher and said respectfully: -Worshipful Master at all us questions thevalidity of your teachings, but . . . - But? -

Asked the lama with a smile. - Why put so muchemphasis on us empty? Perhaps, a respectedteacher, not stress too much the aspect ofteaching? - I like to questioners - said the lama.I do not want to accept anything that is notsubjected to the scrutiny of your primaryintelligence. Now I must carry out without delaymy meditational practice, but ask that yougather all of you in the evening with me in thesanctuary. Yes, my dears, I want each of youbring a full glass of water. The disciples coulddisguise as astonished and even one of themwas forced to stiflelaughter. Is it possible? Inother words, his teacher asked something soridiculous as they all were the sanctuarycarrying a full glass of water. Would it be aspecial rite? Would it be a gift that would makeany of the deities? The day wore on slowlysecurity. The disciples did not stop andspeculate on the strange request of theteacher. Some venture if it would be a specialceremony in honor of compassionate Tara, others thought that maybe it was that wasgoing to lick them all night reading thescriptures and the water was to prevent

    THE BRIDGE

Not long ago, two brothers who lived onadjoining farms fell into conflict. bitter words followed by weeks of silence. Onemorning someone knocked on the door of Luis. When you open the door, found a man withcarpenter tools. - "I'm looking for work for afew days," said the stranger, "perhaps you havea few small jobs here on the farm and I can beof help in that." - "Yes," said the eldest brother,I have a job for you. Look across the creek atthat farm's my neighbor, well, actually myyounger brother.Last week there was a meadow between us butdiverting the stream bed so that between us.He could have done this to spite me, but I'll dobetter. Do you see that pile of lumber by thebarn? I want to build a fence six feet high, I donot see him again. The carpenter said, "I think Iunderstand the situation." The older brotherhelped the carpenter get the materials and leftthe farm for the rest of the day to go to town.About sunset when the farmer returned, thecarpenter had just finished his job. The farmer'seyes opened wide, his jaw dropped. There was

no fence there at all. In its place was a bridgelinking the two farms across the creek. A finepiece of art, complete with handrails. At thattime, his neighbor, his younger brother, camefrom his farm and embracing his brother hesaid: - "You're a great guy, looking to build thisbeautiful bridge after I have done and said."They were in their reconciliation the twobrothers, when they saw that the carpentertook his tools. - "No, wait." "Stay a few days, Ihave many projects for you," said the elderbrother the carpenter. "I would stay," said thecarpenter, "but I have many more bridges to

build." Too often we allow misunderstandingsor anger us away from the people we often letpride take precedence over the feelings, do notlet that happen, God uses different ways tomake their children fought and not walk in sin.
