Crown Chakra A poem by Daisy Lu

I am just as the goddess created me

I feel her energy coursing through my veins

I do what is right in my heart,

what vibrates happiness and joy to myself and others

I love myself and everyone around me -- those who accept me as I am and those who challenge me.

Both teach me the lessons I need in order to grow.

I speak my truth through her voice.

At first it feels as if I am speaking in tongues,

my Higher Self won't allow me to use words that hurt.

I see myself as a spiritual being having a human experience,

and every path I have chosen for myself brings me closer to Home.

I understand that everyone has their own path in life;

I can only alter the course of my own by which voice I chose to follow and by which path I willingly take.

Open the Crown Chakra

Put your hands before your stomach. Let the ring fingers point up, touching at their tops. Cross the rest of your fingers, with the left thumb underneath the right.

Concentrate on the Crown chakra at the top of your head. Roll your eyes upwards while keeping your eyes open. Focus on not straining your eyes. Simply move them upwards without allowing your head to follow. They should slightly defocus from your surroundings and zero in on “seeing” the crown of your head.

You will be working to balance the spirit that resides within you and the spirit energy that resides without you. Your body will be able to absorb spirit energy more easily and effectively allowing for the crown chakra to remain balanced and its sensitivity heightened.

Chant the sound NG.

Warning: don't use this meditation for the Crown chakra while you don't have a strong Root chakra (you need a strong foundation first).

Crown Chakra Self Recorded Meditation By Ronald Williams

This meditation should be recorded in your own voice and listened to on a daily basis for the week we are working on this Chakra. In the future, whenever you feel a need to work with the seventh Chakra, spend time listening to it to help balance

this Chakra

Get comfortable. Breathe in and out slowly and deeply, letting go of all the tensions from the outside world.

Think about the chakra that is being worked on today. Summon the guardian for that chakra. Know that they will keep this journey totally safe for you and guide you, helping you learn what lessons the chakra has for you.

I sit in a stable chair at a safe time and place.

I rest my hands before my stomach.

I let the ring fingers point up, touching at their tops.

I cross the rest of my fingers, with the left thumb underneath the right.

And concentrate on the Crown chakra at the top of my head.

Enlightenment.

I lighten my body and let my legs just be.

I lighten myself and let my arms just be.

I breath in slowly fully. Letting the breath drift away.

I lighten my soul and let my body just be.

I breathe in deeply, fully as if packing my lungs for a trip.

And relax the breath and my body holding it.

My body can care for itself for now.

It does not need or want my thoughts.

My breaths can care for themselves.

My mind drifts higher.

My thoughts find my guide

And let go of here.

I concentrate on my hair.

The very top of my body.

I feel my ears with my mind.

I draw a line up over my head.

At the very top of that line

A flower.

I let it bloom slowly.

Watching as petal after petal is set free to open.

The purple flower has a thousand petals.

I enjoy each unfolding. I relish every one.

I feel my lips smile in recognition of home.

The crown.

My spirit touches here. Lives here. Dances here.

This is my connection with the one song of creation.

My uni-verse.

I wallow in the glory.

The lovely purple.

The body I use feels so far away

But safe and waiting for me.

Here is my me.

I am spirit.

I am.

The whole of all is vibrating with my presence.

My note adds to the music of the stars.

And the harmony is perfection defined.

My crown chakra.

Radiant with its thousand petals of purple splendor.

Some believe it is part of the aura

And not even on the body.

I do not care.

I just know it is mine.

My connection with godliness

My connection with spirituality.

My connection with enlightenment.

My connection with me.

The transcending me.

The true me.

The me that watches the watcher of me.

My lovely purple crown chakra will wait.

I can visit its garden at anytime.

And with a breath of thanks I drift back to find my hands.

Still as I left them.

My breath.

Still doing its job.

My body

Waiting to carry my spirit yet again.

And I find earth again.

And it is good.

Practices for the Crown Chakra

Watching the Breath

Beginning meditators usually start by focusing on the breath. This brings you fully into the present moment, as the breath is always cycling. Allow your breath to be slow, full, and deliberate. If your mind wanders, simply let it return again to the breath. Practice until you find it easy to stay with the breath and you experience a calm and clear state.

Following your Thoughts

If your mind gets busy when you meditate, then simply become the observer of your thoughts. Don’t try to stop, control, or analyze them. Simply observe dispassionately the parade of thoughts as they go by, like watching a movie. Often when I practice this technique, important thoughts, ideas, or reminders surface from the unconscious that I find quite valuable. Sometimes I keep a pad beside me for just this purpose, write a word as a reminder, and then return to my meditation. When my thoughts have been cleared, I am able to sink deeper into the meditation to a place of no thought.

Mantra Meditation

Transcendental Meditation (known popularly as TM) is a mantra-based meditation practice. This technique uses a simple sound repeated internally for the duration of the meditation. TM has been well researched and has proven to have many beneficial results, ranging from brain wave synchrony to increased health, well-being, and productivity. If you want to focus on a particular chakra, you can use the seed or vowel sound associated with that center, as discussed in session six on the fifth chakra.

Using the same mantra over a long period of time increases its effectiveness.

These techniques are for bringing you closer to the divine, but they are just techniques—they are not the experience itself. To open the seventh chakra is to truly tune into the divine source that lies behind everything and to become one with that source.

Physical Exercises

Dancer Pose

Stand in Tadasana (Mountain Pose). Inhale, shift your weight onto your right foot, and lift your left heel toward your left buttock as you bend your knee. Press the head of your right thigh bone back, deep into the hip joint, and pull the knee cap up to keep the standing leg straight and strong.

There are two variations you might try here with your arms and hands. In either case, try to keep your torso relatively upright. The first is to reach back with your left hand and grasp the outside of your left foot or ankle. To avoid compression in your lower back, actively lift your pubis toward your navel, and at the same time press your tailbone toward the floor.

Begin to lift your left foot up, away from the floor, and back, away from your torso. Extend the left thigh behind you and parallel to the floor. Stretch your right arm forward, in front of your torso, parallel to the floor.

The second option with the hands is to sweep your right hand around behind your back and catch hold of the inner left foot. Then, sweep the left hand back and grab the outside of your left foot. This variation will challenge your balance even more. Then raise the thigh as described above. This second variation will increase the lift of your chest and the stretch of your shoulders.

Stay in the pose for twenty to thirty seconds. Then release the grasp on your foot, place your left foot onto the floor, and repeat for the same length of time on the other side.

Final Assessment and Plan for Balancing Your Seventh Chakra

Bringing about healing, balance, and transformation in your chakras takes time. Doing an exercise once may bring about an experience, but doing it repeatedly over time can bring about a permanent shift.

Before leaving this section, take some time to make a plan for how you want to work on your seventh chakra.

Mandala Artwork

At some point during the week, preferably in the first day or two, either after doing your guided meditation or doing chanting work or dancing, you will need to draw a mandala representing your emotions you experienced.

A circle has been pre-drawn on the next page of this workbook to get you started. You will also need some colored crayons. The mandala art exercise is a way of anchoring our experiences back into our conscious world.

Mandala is a Sanskrit word that means, “magic circle.” It is a symbol of life and wholeness. Mandalas have appeared throughout history in many cultures and religions and Jung often painted mandalas as an expression of his psyche. As an art form, they work as symbolic expressions of our inner being, and hold a psychic energy and healing power.

This is not about creating a beautiful artwork. Many people immediately say “but I can’t draw!”

It really isn’t about what it looks like, it’s what your mandala represents that is important. Just as your dance or meditation unfolds organically and without force, so too, your mandala art is a spontaneous expression of your symbolic representation of the energy of your chakras. The images may be literal or you may find a color or a shape to represent the feelings you while working with each Chakra. This is playful ritual. Just let it unfold.

Reflections on Your Mandala Artwork

After you have finished doing the mandala, please review the following questions:

Title – Give your mandala a title. Let this title come through spontaneously. It is best to go with the first

name that comes to you.

Feelings – What are the dominant feelings or emotional energy surfacing from your mandala?

Question – What question is your mandala asking of you? Of what is it trying to help you become more

conscious.

Throughout this week, take time to meditate on your mandala, reviewing your question and responses.

Evaluate how it might help to give meaning and direction to your life.
