Critical Measures developed Language Access and the Law - the first e-learning program in the U.S. to address legal issues associated with providers’ legal duty to provide language access services to limited English Proficient patients (LEP). Leading national health plans such as Highmark and Wellpoint are using Language Access and the Law to train their provider networks on language access and the law. Critical Measures also has an e-learning program entitled Viewpoints: Clinical Competence in a Globally Mobile World. This is the first e-learning program in the U.S. (or world for that matter) to provide clinical instruction on how to practice global medicine. It provides training on the medical, legal and cross-cultural aspects of communicating with LEP patients, deaf and hard of hearing patients, immigrant and refugee patients and GLBT patients. This program provides 6.0 hours of CME credit for doctors and nurses provided through the University of Minnesota Medical School.
