Magazine Contents Page Deconstructions

NME, Q and Kerrang

Page 2: Contents page deconstructions

The main image in this contents page is in the middle of the page as it is a big attraction to the viewer the title for the image is underneath and the a colours in the image, are colours that stick to the house style to keep it looking proffesional.

The masthead is positioned at the top of the page, it makes it stand out, as it will be the first thing you will read, so you know straight away that this is a contents page, and that you know what is in this weeks magazine. The magazine is a indie rock magazine, so the fonts uses are very bold which represent the music genre

The Advertisment for subcription is at the bottom of the page so it is not too prodominant as they dont want that to be the first thing you see, however it does use bold colours against a dark background, which stands out as it is not following the colour scheme of the rest of the magazine

The subheads in this article are keeping to the house style of the magazine, the colours used are pretty plain and not as bold colours as the more important articles, this is because they want to show off the bigger articles to the audience

The Main image on this page is a large image of Adele. It is positioned on the right to of the contents list, and about the review of a larger article in the magazine. The colours stick to the house style, and don't particularly show any effects on the reader, unless the reader finds her attractive.

The other sub head in this issue on the contents page is a title for a list of reviews in the magazine, whether it be an artists new material or of a new tour. It uses the grey background again to make it stand out against the less important articles.

The mast head in this contents page is small but it gets straight to the point, the reader knows what magazine it is, tell you what this page is, and the colours match the house style, and it tries to fit the music genre, but the magazine does not have a specific genre, so it uses minimalistic but bold colours

The features section is under the subhead, it uses the grey background instead of white to make it stand out, as those articles, like the one telling you what page the Stevie Nicks article is on, because she is a huge world wide celeb.

They have put the subhead of the magazine at the top above the mast head in this article as to show to the audience straight away that this is the contents page. It gets straight to the point instead of having to read a short while to work out what it is. It follows the house style and gets the point across to the reader straight away.

The main image in this article is a dark image of slash on the top right hand side of the page. It is the second thing you will see after the sub head. The image is using dark, gothic colours to fit in with the magazine, it is one of the bigger articles in the magazine, hence it being the biggest thing on the page, because kerrang want you to be most interested in that.

The mast head in this article isn't at the top like other magazines, as the magazine want you to know this is the contents page before showing that it is a kerrang magazine, as if you are on the contents page, you have seen the front cover and know it is kerrang. It sticks to the colour scheme and it separated the page nicely, it just shows how professional they are to the audience

The contents list in this page is split up into 4, it sticks to the colour scheme. It has a white background so the writing stands out better, as it looks more professional than keep using black and yellow helps it easier to read too.
