Marine Compressors

Reliable marine compression systems

There's only one thing more impressive than the quality and reliability of our marine compression systems, that's the conditions that they have to work in. Across the globe on warships, submarines and merchant vessels from every nation, you will find CompAir compression systems hard at work. Our unique range of seawater, freshwater, and air cooled high and medium pressure air and gas compression systems comply with all internationally recognised approval standards.

Page 25: Compair Airpower Presentation

Marine Compressors

Main engine and auxiliary starting airTypically all navel and merchant vessels, to comply with marine regulations require at least two compressors for main engine start. Our range of small footprint, easily maintained and user friendly reciprocating compressors offer flexible and versatile solutions. Emergency starting compressors totally independent from all other systems can be supplied diesel driven if required to cope with "black" or "dead" start situations.

Control and general service airWhatever the requirements, CompAir can supply a system to suit from our range of reciprocating, rotary screw and rotary vane compressors which can be supplied as air or water cooled, lubricated or oil-free packages

Inert gas blanketing and generationWhere inert gasses are required to safeguard flammable bulk cargoes it is usual to fill the unused space in the storage tank with an inert gas - usually Nitrogen, CompAir can supply a range of highly specific Nitrogen generators, boosters and storage vessels to enable easy Nitrogen blanketing.

Page 26: Compair Airpower Presentation

Marine Compressors

Seismic surveyingIn instances where seismic air is required for underwater geological surveys, CompAir's solutions provide high pressure air to create the requisite shock levels for measurement and mapping purposes.

Motion compensationDrill string compensators comprise of a number of compression loaded hydraulic pneumatic cylinders that are supplied with high pressure air or Nitrogen. As the platform or vessel moves the compensator allows for the drill hook to remain in a fixed position relative to the sea bed. The CompAir four stage water cooled compressor has become the industry standard for this gruelling application.

Buoyancy controlWhere water needs to be evacuated from submerged buoyancy tanks, CompAir has the compressor solution for the duty.

Naval defenceMany of the worlds Navies use air compression packages supplied by CompAir. They are an integral part of weapons and submarine ballast systems, as well as the other on board pneumatic systems, general service air and breathing air

Motor Challenge ProgrammeCompAir has become one of the first organisations to be accepted as an Endorser of a new European Commission initiative designed to promote the use of energy efficient motor driven systems across a wide spectrum of European industry. The Motor Challenge Programme (MCP), launched in February 2003, is part of a European voluntary programme to reduce CO2 emissions cost effectively, helping to improve the economic competitiveness of European countries. The key areas it focuses on are electric drives, compressed air, and fan and pump systems.

Organisations across Europe have been invited to participate in the programme either as ‘Partners’ or ‘Endorsers’. Partners to the scheme make a voluntary commitment to improve their energy efficiency performance in the specific area of motor driven systems, whilst

Endorsers will play a key role in ensuring that an infrastructure of support is in place to assist them through the process. In its role as an Endorser, CompAir has committed to promote the Motor Challenge Programme (MCP) both within CompAir and within its associated organisations in the compressed air industry as well as to existing and potential customers. One element of this promotional plan is the provision of training for sales companies and main distributors on the MCP Compressed Air Systems Module, a document that defines the path a Partner company has to follow.

Page 34: Compair Airpower Presentation

The Motor Challenge Programme is a European Commission voluntary programme (launched in February 2003) through which industrial companies are aided in improving the energy efficiency of their Motor Driven Systems. Any enterprise or organisation planning to

contribute to the Motor Challenge Programme objectives can participate. Companies that use Motor Driven Systems can request "Partner" status. Through the Motor

Challenge, they will receive:aid in defining and carrying out an Action Plan, to reduce energy related operating

expenses, while maintaining or improving reliability and quality of service; public recognition for their contribution to achieving the objectives of the European Union's

energy and environmental policies.

AirWorx has been developed as a service package based on CompAir skills, technology and hardware. AirWorx enables major users of compressed air to save money, meet energy reduction targets, reduce capital investment in plant and maybe most importantly stop worrying about compressed air. You simply purchase the compressed air you need from CompAir.

Page 46: Compair Airpower Presentation

The AirWorx AirAudit… the 1st step

In order to allow both parties to understand the present performance of the supply side as well as the distribution network, we strongly

suggest that system measurements are performed. This is an important part of the AirWorx approach and we call it an AirWorx

AirAudit. By signing up for an AirAudit, your company does not commit to

anything further, other than working together towards an optimum AirWorx proposal.
