OVERVIEWWe are delighted to announce a three-year community music training programme, in collaboration with Musicians without Borders.

During this programme trainees will explore in depth the use of music for reconciliation, community building and healing for people suffering from the effects of war and armed conflict.

Led by a team of experienced Musicians without Borders trainers, all of whom have a broad range of training skills and experience in working with children, youth and adults in fragile (post-)conflict environments, trainees will learn to become music workshop leaders, capable of organising and delivering community music workshops and activities in their own and other communities.

The first year of the training programme will commence in October 2014 and will run until June 2015.

As well as in-depth training by Musicians without Borders, trainees will be mentored by a qualified and experienced music coach who will work with them to further develop their skills and assist them in embedding their practice in local communities.

The training programme will consist of nine monthly training sessions, four of which are four-day sessions led by Musicians without Borders trainers. These are supplemented by five one-day events (talks, workshops) by experts in the fields of community music and community music therapy.

The programme is an ideal opportunity for:

- community and youth workers with musical skills- music graduates- musicians interested in developing meaningful projects in their communities

ABOUT MUSICIANS WITHOUT BORDERS

Musicians without Borders is an international network organization that uses the power of music to connect communities, bridge divides and heal the wounds of war and conflict.

Where war and cultural conflict have left people isolated and divided, Musicians without Borders uses the power of music to heal psychic and social trauma, bridge ethnic, political and religious divides, strengthen community and provide hope and shared vision for the future.

For more than a decade, Musicians without Borders has developed project models that use music for healing,

reconciliation and tolerance in conflict areas and that are replicable, sustainable and durable. From successful projects, Musicians without Borders develops training and consulting services.

An international network of musicians and other supporters helps to sustain the organization and spread the mission. Musicians without Borders is based in the Netherlands and currently operates in Eastern and Western Europe, the Middle East and Central Africa.
