What is the plan

• To set up a Dairy Farm housing 500 Milking

cows having plans for expansion- Market milk

produced as hygienic / quality milk with premium.

• Cross breeding with imported semen for herd

development / improved productivity of each

animal. ( Livestock import banned)

• Bull mother farm / Semen production

General Farm Details• 15000 cows (13000 milking + 2000 dry).

• Housing outdoor corrals with central shades and evaporative coolers.

• Very hot arid climate, winter 30+C, summer 50+C. <200mm rainfall.

Current Production Data• Milk Averages - ‘saleable’ milk delivered

to processing factory only

• 28 kg / day / cow-in-milk

• 8340 kg / year / all cows (milking + dry)

History• 3840 cows – Production 40000 Ltr /

Feeding systems (Roughages & Concentrates)

• Feeding expenses accounts for 50 to 60% of revenue generated . Any saving on this adds to bottom-line. Measurement of concentrate fed to individual animal.

Milking System

• Milking system to provide stress free environment to cows & persons milking cows.

• Milking system to be equipped with automatic milk yield measurement , record & transfer recorded readings to central database. Milker to get access to milk yield records , feed consumption records stored in central database & health remind code indications, from each milking point.

• Milk to be cooled immediately after extraction to check bacterial growth & to Improve shelf life of milk & stored in hygienic insulated container.

• Milking tank to be equipped with suitable cleaning system to check contamination / hygiene.

Manure Handling System

• Scraping of manure without causing injuries to cows.

• Manure scraping without sound pollution.

• Storage ,Transport & disposal of manure in slurry form.

• Arrangement of un-interrupted power supply with suitable distribution network making power available at consumption points.

• Breeding history & records of all animal must be available & updated.

• Cows to remain under individual & professional attention during

calving.(10 days) Maternity treatments to be updated in health records.

• History of Treatment given to cows should be available & updated after

every treatment.

Calves and Youngstock• Isolated housing of all calves under 2 months.

• Young stock produced by good performing cows to be reared under special attention, for replacement which will ensure improvement of herd productivity.

the cow.
