OBJECTIVES To learn about history, cultural changes and the
reasons for immigration. To acknowledge the importance of foreign
language learning as a way to get access to other cultures, people and countries, and as a way to achieve better international understanding.
To look for information using ICTs. To promote tolerance towards people of other
nationalities, religion or races and towards the elderly people.
To stimulate creativity. To work in groups collaborating and being
responsible of their individual tasks. To show respect towards other people’s culture
and opinions.

ACTIVITIES
Nearly all the students will participate in at least one of the activities proposed by the different Departments in our school.
Activities will be developed during two years. (2010 – 2012)
Papers and different works will be published in a blog or exhibited in our school.

Biology and Science Department
Compare our grandma’s recipes with our mum’s recipes in terms of calories and nutritional values. Elaboration of a book of recipes with this information.
Study how technology has changed in music reproduction. (Compare our grandpa’s radios with our Mp3 or Mp4)
Investigate the effects of pollution in the explotation of mines.

Physical Education Department Study the British influence in sports in
Huelva (ex. football, tennis and golf) Compile traditional games such as
marbles or spinning top and compare them to what students play nowadays.

“C’est ma vie et celle de mes aînés.”This is my life and my grandparents’ life.

• Students will write essays, will create posters or a photography exhibition about their grandparents’ life or about cultural changes between both generations.
• Study the influence of the British culture in our region through the film:
“The Heart of the Earth”
• Work with biographies of significant women in history. (past and present)
Religion Department and the special educational needs group
Study in depth the reasons for immigration.
Watch films and listen to songs related to immigration.
Visit to nearby immigrant settlements. Listen to some immigrants’ experiences
and difficulties when coming to Spain and trying to make their living in our country.
Our immigrant students will write essays and elaborate posters in which they will narrate their experiences.
Music Department
Our work is based on 4 main themes: Music as a result of immigration: World Music,
reggaeton. Music for young people: past and present. Everyday stories: lyrics that tell us about
feelings, experiences, etc. Women’s role in music today: powerful women in
music industry like Beyoncé, lady Gaga,etc.

Art and Drawing Department
Study the evolution in the process of images. They are going to observe the importance of photography and its role in a social context. Furthermore, they are going to compare the evolution of technology in this field.
Students can also relate this topic to advertising: how images and stereotypes are used to sell a product.
STORIES OF EVERYDAY LIFE
Technology and History Department They are going to investigate the development of transport
and industrial machines in Huelva. They will focus their research on the use of these machines
in mines. They will explain this use through Powerpoint presentations.
Students will elaborate posters with old and new photos of the first railway in the province of Huelva: “The Buitron and Huelva Railway and Mineral Company Limited” in San Juan del Puerto, with information taken from interviews to elderly people and cartography.

Mathematics Department Students will elaborate a blog in which they will
publish and update all the information related to the Comenius Project so that our educative community and the rest of our partners in the project have access to the works elaborated in our school.
Students will do research into two main topics:- Scientific Advances in Europe from the 1960s
to nowadays.- Evolution in allergies in relation to pollution.
Other Departments Some teachers are going to take part in the
project with their groups by studying the countries that work with us in the Comenius Project: Germany, Northern Ireland and Italy.
They are going to look for information about these countries, in order to explain their characteristics to other groups.
