Levels of Affiliation PackagesPlayers and Clubs are at the heart of our game and we want to make it easily accessible and enjoyable whilst ensuring we communicate effectively, but spend less time on administration.

Working closely with the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) & Hertfordshire Cricket, Cricket East provides a clear and robust package of benefits aimed at supporting you, your club and everyone associated with it. All our work across the cricket network will be aligned to delivering ‘Cricket Unleashed’ and we encourage Clubs to look at aligning themselves with this strategy, more information on this can be found on page 5 of this document or via www.cricketunleashed.com

Affiliation is not simply about registering your team to play. Every club can take advantage of the help and support on offer, to achieve as many of your objectives as possible and to be an active member of our cricketing family.

The following sections provide a summary of the benefits that are available from the different affiliation packages, giving each club an idea of what they can access through Cricket East, Hertfordshire Cricket and the ECB.

Conditions of Affiliation

Renewal Dates and Deadlines

The affiliation year runs from 1st January 2018 to 31st December 2018. The deadline for renewal of affiliation is 28th February 2018. If your affiliation renewal is not received by this date then your current affiliation package will be suspended and its benefits will no longer be available.

Safe Hands

Cricket East, via the ECB and it’s County Board Partners takes their duty of care and safeguarding responsibilities of all club members very seriously. All affiliated clubs, as a minimum operating standard, are required to adopt the ECB Safe Hands Policy and all the associated requirements within that policy.

The safeguarding policy is there to protect all young persons and vulnerable adults in cricket, it introduces good practices, raises awareness and provides peace of mind for both club members and those visiting as part of an opposition team.

Within the safeguarding policy, the ECB defines roles within cricket which are required to obtain an ECB enhanced DBS Clearance, this includes all adult team captains. These checks are free of charge for all volunteers and can be obtained via Club.

Club Welfare Officer

A major part of the ECB Safe Hands Policy is the appointment and training of a Club Welfare Officer (CWO). This person is responsible for the implementation of and the club’s commitment to the policy. The CWO needs to be trained in safeguarding children and vulnerable people and in the procedures for handling issues and concerns.

If a club is unable to identify and train a suitable candidate, they should contact the County Welfare Officer, who will then support the club: -

Conditions of Affiliation

• With the provision of a central officer for a maximum period of 6 months• Whilst the club identifies an appropriate person to take on the role • Ensuring the club meets minimum safeguarding requirements (document will be provided)• Agree an appropriate action plan with the county welfare officer • There will be an initial additional fee of minimum of £50 for this service

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)

Some volunteer roles, such as Welfare Officer, Scorer, Umpire, Junior Manager, Captain and Coach, require a vetting or DBS check. For a list of posts that require a DBS check please click here or contact Cricket East.
