The Police Department consists of: Uniformed patrol division Investigations division Communications Command staffFrom these divisions the department has: bicycle officers motorcycle officers tactical officers belonging to the Central Illinois Emergency Response

Team (CIERT), the ILEAS statewide tactical response team truck enforcement officers K-9 unit Honor GuardThere are currently two officers tasked out to specialized units, one with the Multi County Enforcement Group, and one with the Central Illinois Cybercrimes Unit with the FBI.

November 17, 2013On November 17, 2013 at 10:53 a.m. East Peoria Dispatch Center sets off tornado sirens. At 11:00 a.m. on duty officer reports tornado near Pinecrest.Within minutes additional officers and dispatchers respond to assist. Within an hour, the East Peoria Police Department had over thirty units on scene at various locations within the city. Most responded before even being called. By the time a few weeks had passed and areas were declared secured, the Police Department had expended some 2,500 man hours just toward tornado response.

Energy Efficiency Programs to DateApplied and received over $380,00.00 in grants and Incentives for Energy Efficiency Programs for City Facilities.Reduced Total Energy Consumption by 30% since 2007.Instrumental in Electrical Aggregation Program.Recycled over 10 tons of paper and metals.Will continue to reduce, reuse, and recycle for the City of East Peoria.

MAIN STREET!Partnering with PublicStuff, a CRM software company to launch a new digital communications solution called Access East Peoria. People can submit service requests on the fly from their iPhone, Blackberry and Android smartphones or on the web andAccess important city information regarding events, emergency alerts and more. City workers will have direct communication with residents to resolve issues through the backend software system

4/17/13 – Lightning strikes a warehouse on Cass Street during an extremely severe storm, kicking off a year of a flood, drought and tornado – and the Fire Departmentwas there through it allserving East Peoria!
