With only one doctor since September last year that means I have to keep things going when he is gone. Everything went well and no need for a C/Section so we were able to handle everything else here. Only a few emergencies and calls out during the night, so I fared well! Our surgeons from Harare came out for a weekend to do more surgeries for our patients out here. They are so generous with their time and donate their services to our hospital. We are arranging for the doc- tors from Karoi District Hospital to come and learn from them this year too along with our doctors. The big news in January is that the last weekend of the month we moved to a brand new townhouse in Harare in an area called Greystone Park. It took us a whole day to load up and move things from the old flat to the new place. We went through and got rid of lots of stuff. We are so thankful to God for this new place. It is bigger, has 3 bathrooms, a big kitchen, big yard and it is in a gated unit of 6 homes. We are the first people to move in and so they still have some work to do. The most important thing is there is water most of the time! A big change from our flat that only had water a few days a week and never Friday- Monday! We have hosted several visitors in the house already and are happy for it. My forwarding agent Sue hosted a shower for the new home in Sebastopol, CA and new dishes and many nice kitchen gifts are on the way for the new house. Everyone who has seen it is so impressed by it. JANUARY 2015: After a busy Christmas time, work got very busy for us and the first 10 days of Janu-ary our doctor was gone on his days off.

We are arranging for the doc-tors from Karoi District Hospital to come and learn from them this year too along with our doctors.

FEBRUARY 2015: On the 6th of February we welcomed Bob and Rose Coibion from Roseville, CA and two of their grandchildren, Andrea and Brendan Coibion from Santa Rosa, CA. Bob and Brendan came to remodel my kitchen and Rose and Andrea helped us with some ART records reorganization and computer work. We kept them busy for the month they were with us.

Wow what a difference my kitchen is now! We added about 8 more feet and new cupboards and countertops and new floor in the kitchen and dining room and new paint in both places. I have so much more room to cook and prepare meals for all my many guests and meals I cook! When I start-ed to put away the things in the new cupboards it was amaz-ing how much kitchen stuff I had and now I can get to it so much easier! Thanks to their hard work it is such a pleasure to come home and cook each day!

On the 8th of February Megan and Jeff came from Ohio State University as 4th year medical students for an elective rota-tion. They enjoyed their month with us and got a trip in to Vic-

toria Falls before they left in early March. We were happy to hear they matched and took up residencies in July. Megan is in Albuquerque, New Mexico in OB/GYN and Jeff is in Phoe-nix, AZ in Psychiatry. We wish them well in their future careers.

tha D’Andrea from Se-attle, WA. She came to spend 2 months with us. She is trying to get into a physician assis-tant program and she came to get some clini-cal experience. We had a great time with her and worked her hard in all departments of the hospital. She should have lots of experience for her program. We wish her well as she applies to a program for next year.

We also visited with Dr. Dale and Sue Alice Erickson who came for 3 weeks to teach at University of Zimba-bwe Medical School on their way home from a conference in South Africa. We were able to have dinner with them for 1 night in Harare. Dale was our first doctor at Chidamoyo when it opened in 1968. Sue Alice

was a nurse and did anesthesia.

Rachel Marsh joined us in March. A music teacher from the UK she came to map out our buildings, water and electrical lines at the hospital and housing. We have need-ed such a plan for a long time and we are thankful to our Chidamoyo UK Trust who sponsored Rachel to come. She was kept busy figuring out where everything was

and putting it on a computer map for us. This will be a big help in deciding where future buildings will go.

We did interviews for a second doctor on the 27th of March. We were happy to choose Dr. Ngwaru Munodawafa who will join us in May when his residency ends.

APRIL 2015: We had a 4 day church meeting for Easter the first weekend of April. Easter is always a 4 day holiday here, so on Thursday night through Sunday

morning we invited all of our churches in the area to join us for a great time of singing, danc-ing and preach-ing with lessons and food for all! We had over 500 people register and more that came locally. They were busy from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. each day.

After Easter morning service, we took off for an overnight at my vil-lage in Batanai. We spent a day and night there since we didn’t have to work on Monday. Rachel and Sa-mantha helped harvest some soy beans from Major’s field. It rained and we enjoyed good food and fel-lowship with many that came by the village to visit us. They both said this was the highlight of their trip!

We got back in time to welcome 3 high school students from Chinhoyi and Janeece England, a missionary relief person who was filling in for missionaries in Chinhoyi. The high school students: Elizabeth, Zane and Hogan are all interested in possible medical careers. They came to spend some time with us to see if they might want to work in the field. They seemed to all really love it and they spent the week following the doctor around, watching procedures in theater and learning to do some dressing changes. Zane is son of fellow missionaries, Nick and Lindale Adams in Chinhoyi. Janeece helped with some office work.

Janeece, Samantha and Rachel went off for 3 nights at Rhino Camp in Kariba and they really enjoyed see-ing animals and the beauty of Kariba Lake. Rachel and Janeece left shortly after that. Samantha left at the end of the month. I took her into Harare to catch her plane and got to spend a couple of days with American friends Ben and Karen Pennington, missionaries in Masvingo, who came up to Harare so we could see each other and run around and do our business.

May 2015: The first 2 weekends of May we had the seniors from Zimbabwe Christian College who came out in 2 groups to learn about AIDS, AIDS care and how to visit sick patients in the hospital as ministers. There were 8 in one group and 7 in the other. They come on Friday and leave on Monday and help in our local churches on Sunday. They are always excited by this time to put into practice what they have learned in their counselling class. They will graduate on June 6 so they are almost done with their 3 year program. We have been training ministers for 24 years in this program so we are happy to have an influence on their ministries throughout Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa and Sudan.

On May 11th our new doctor, Dr. Ngwaru Munodawafa joined us as our second doctor. Four days later our doctor who had been work-ing by himself for the last 8 months, Dr. Nura Isala, left on leave. He was ready for a break and he threw Dr. Munodawafa into the fire! We worked hard for the month he was gone and had many difficult surgeries, but God blessed us and we made it through!

A new surgeon joined us from Harare for a weekend in May, Mr. Chihaka. The other sur-geon went to South Africa for a year of specialized training in ENT surgeries. We are thank-ful he talked his friend into coming and helping us. They were able to operate all day and do 9 cases which we were thankful for. Dr. Kajese came from Harare to do the anes-thesia. He worked with Dr. Munodawafa who likes anesthesia.

The last week of May the eye team from Norton hos-pital came to do cataract surgery for our patients. They did 52 cataracts in 3 days. We are so thankful for their service to us. Dr. Ute (from Luxemburg orig-inally) and her team worked hard. Luckily, no C/Sections so we didn’t have to kick them out of the theater. We had one the day they left—perfect timing!

On the 27th of May, Rachel Nutt, a nursing and Ozark Christian Col-lege student arrived to spend the summer with us. On the 29th of

May, Rileigh and her husband John Schunk arrived to work in our Secondary School for 7 weeks. Rachel and Rileigh are granddaughters of founding missionaries of Chidamoyo. Their fathers were both born in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) when their parents were missionaries at Chidamoyo. Rachel is the grand-daughter of Ziden and Helen Nutt and Rileigh is the granddaughter of Bruce Ammerman and Carolyn Litz. How fun to see where their fathers (Tod Ammerman and Tom Nutt) grew up! They both arrived here not knowing the other would be here and not knowing their fathers grew up here at Chidamoyo together! Small world!

Michael Mereki (Major’s son) came home from college on May 29th. He has finished his first year at University in Midrand, South Africa and has a break until the end of July. We have put him to work as a back-up driver for the hospital.

June 2015: My visitors are enjoying their work and walking around the mission and township and hanging out with Michael and his friend Carlton (Monica’s son). They love basketball so we have been watching the NBA finals. Did I mention I am a Warriors fan?? We tape it from its 2 a.m. spot here and watch it later that evening, after work!

John and Ngwaru (our new doctor) and Major went to a men’s conference in Banket for all the men in Mashonaland West prov-ince on the 12th of June. There were over 250 men for a 3 day meeting. They enjoyed the fellowship and preaching.

The surgeons are coming the last weekend of June and also a new visitor, April Crothers from Kansas. We look forward to their time with us.
