• Fussy cut six 4 ½” squares each centered on a cat.• Cut four 3 ½” squares

• Cut three 2 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into forty-eight 2 ½” squares.

• Cut three 2 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into forty-eight 2 ½” squares.• Cut three 3 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end to end with diagonal seams and cut two 3 ½” x 43” strips.• Cut two 3 ½” x 33 ½” strips.

• Cut eight 2” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into thirty-one 2” x 8 ½” strips.

• Cut one 4 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut the strips into six 4 ½” squares.

• Cut five 2 ½” x WOF strips for the binding.

• Cut three 2 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into forty-eight 2 ½” squares.• Cut six 2 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into forty-eight 2 ½” x 4 ½” strips.• Cut two 2” x 40” strips.• Cut two 2” x 33 ½” strips.

• Cut one 2” x WOF strip. Sub-cut the strip into twenty 2” squares.

Cutting instructions Please Note: All strips are cut across the width of fabric (WOF) from selvage to selvage edge unless otherwise noted.

Backing 2 ¾ yards • Cut two 57” x WOF strips. Piece the strips together and trim to make the 47” x 57” pieced backing.

You will also need:• 47” x 57” batting, threads to match, scissors, straight pins, acrylic ruler, rotary cutter and mat.

Block Assembly1. Sew Place one 2 ½” Fabric B square on the left side of one 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric C strip, right sides together (Fig. 1). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 1). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 2). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance.

2. Place another 2 ½” Fabric B square on the right side of the 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric C strip, right sides together (Fig. 3). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 3). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 4). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance to make one Unit 1 block. Repeat to make twenty-four Unit 1 blocks total.

3. Repeat Steps 1-2 using forty-eight 2 ½” Fabric E squares and twenty-four 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric C strips to make twenty-four Unit 2 blocks (Fig. 5).

4. Sew one Unit 1 block to each side of one 4 ½” Fabric A square. Sew one 2 ½” Fabric C square to each side of one Unit 1 block to make one block strip. Repeat to make a second block strip. Sew the block strips to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A square to make one Block One (Fig. 6). Repeat to make six Block Ones total.

Quilt Top Assembly (Follow the Quilt Layout while assembling the quilt top.)7. Sew four 2” x 8 ½” Fabric F strips, two Block Ones and one Block Two together to make Row One. Repeat to make Row Three.

8. Sew four 2” x 8 ½” Fabric F strips, two Block Twos and one Block One together to make Row Two. Repeat to make Row Four.

9. Sew five Sashing Strips and four rows together, alternating them, to make the Center Block.

10. Sew one 2” x 40” Fabric C strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew one 2” x 33 ½” Fabric C strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

11. Sew one 3 ½” x 43” Fabric B strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew one 3 ½” Fabric A square to each end of one 3 ½” x 33 ½” Fabric B strip to make one top border strip. Repeat to make one bottom border strip. Sew the border strips to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block to make the quilt top.

12. Layer and quilt as desired.

13. Sew the five 2 ½” x WOF Fabric H strips together, end-to-end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

14. Bind as desired.

6. Sew four 2” Fabric G squares and three 2” x 8 ½” Fabric F strips together, alternating them, to make one Sashing Strip (Fig. 8). Repeat to make five Sashing Strips total.

5. Sew one Unit 2 block to each side of one 4 ½” Fabric D square. Sew one 2 ½” Fabric C square to each side of one Unit 2 block to make one block strip. Repeat to make a second block strip. Sew the block strips to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric D square to make one Block Two (Fig. 7). Repeat to make six Block Twos total.
