Happy Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ! Today we celebrate the reality of what we believe about the Most Blessed Sacrament: ordi-nary bread and wine become the true Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ at the Mass. The hymn Lauda Sion is a profound reflection on the truth of what we believe. It was written by St. Thomas Aquinas at the request of Pope Urban IV around the year 1264 when this feast was first instituted. Here are excerpts of the hymn:

From his hands of old partaken, As we know, by faith unshaken, Where the Twelve at supper met. Full and clear ring out your chanting, Joy nor sweetest grace be wanting, From your heart let praises burst: For today the feast is holden, When the institution olden Of that supper was rehearsed. Here the new law’s new oblation, By the new king’s revelation, Ends the form of ancient rite: What he did at supper seated, Christ ordained to be repeated, His memorial ne’er to cease:

Sight has fail’d, nor thought conceives, But a dauntless faith believes, Resting on a pow’r divine. Blood is poured and flesh is broken, Yet in either wondrous token Christ entire we know to be.

Whoso of this food partakes, Does not rend the Lord nor breaks; Christ is whole to all that taste: Bad and good the feast are sharing, Of what divers dooms preparing, Endless death, or endless life. Weekend Masses are resuming at St. Maximilian

Kolbe and Saint Katharine Drexel following the

usual schedule.

ALL DAILY AND SUNDAY MASSES WILL RESUME at

25% building capacity. Weekend masses will begin on June

13 & 14 at all worship sites!

It is important to know that “the obligation of a Catholic to attend Sunday Mass remains suspended and we have uniformly encouraged those most at risk to stay home” (Bishop Matano, Memorandum, May 21, 2020).

The following guidelines will be in place for all pub-lic Masses for the foreseeable future:

• All those who enter the church MUST be wearing a facemask. You must come wearing one.

• Everyone must sanitize his or her hands upon en-trance to the church. Hand sanitizer will be pro-vided at the entrances.

• Observe social distancing measures. Pews in each church will be clearly marked as to where people may sit. A family may sit together, but please be six (6) feet apart from the next person or family.

The public space must be sanitized after each Mass in

preparation for the next.

Due to mold problems at St. Rose in Sodus Point the church won’t be used this summer. The

8:30 summer mass will be celebrated at Church of the Epiphany 105 West Main St. Sodus, NY 14551. Sum-mer masses will start on June 28 and end on Septem-ber 13.
