Castle Prestranek
It is situated on Karst region where the coast meets the interrior. In 16th century the CastlePrestranek was a property of the austrian emperors as an addition to Lipica stables, but afterfirst world war it became a private property. It is surrounded by forests, meadows, as well asnatural, cultural, and historical landmarks.
This period property of quality in need of some love and attention extends overapproximately 118.700 square metres. It is constituted of forest, meadows, ponds,outbuildings, backyards and functional adifices.
Why this introduction?
Half hour drive from the Slovenian and Croatian seaside and half hour drive away fromthe Alps our Castle Prestranek property is one of numerous turistic points in Slovenia andit has all preferences for developing all sorts of tourist activities. Our prime project in nearfuture is to rebuild Castle Prestranek into a hotel capacity. Since our efforts aredirected for Castle Prestranek to revive, our main intention is to find a strategicpartner who would realize our project and manage a business in the future. Theoption is also to buy the Castle. We are open to any form of cooperation!
Why is this region so absorbing?
It contains some interesting sites nearby, such as Postojna Cave, the most popular cave inEurope and many more beauties of Karst underworld. Worth mentioning is also Predjamacastle and the mysterious "dissapearing lake" at Cerknica, gorgeous mountains to the southon the border with Croatia, worldwide known craddle of Lipizzaner horses called Lipica nearSlovenian-Italian border, where is also a popular tourist centre with riding school, hotels, golfcourse and a casino. When you’ve explored all this beauties you can head towards the coast.

Slovenian Istra is a short line of very picturesque 46km of coast and southern it is prolongedin Croatian seaside.On the other side, because of relatively short traffic lines in Slovenia there is possibility toexplore many interesting points and sightseeings also in other regions and countries forinstance fascinating Venice in neighbouring Italy, etc.

The Grad Prestranek`s estate position is being situated on countryside but still close toeconomic centre and at the crossroad of important traffic links between capital city ofLjubljana, Gorizia (Italy), Trieste (Italy) and Rijeka (Croatia).
Nearby is a sport airport Postojna. The main Slovenian airport is only 70 km away meanwhilethe biggest ports in this part of Europe (Trieste, Italy and Rijeka, Croatia) are only 45 kmaway. The airports of Trieste and Venice with their worldwide connections are also in thedirect vicinity. The region is well connected with the railway – through it leads the railwaynetwork from Croatian Kvarner with its islands towards the Central Europe and towardsItaly on the other side. From Ljubljana there are also daily trains to Greece (Thessaloniki).

A glance inside the Castle Prestranek
Restaurant
In the restaurant our chefs prepare traditional Slovenian dishes, pizzas as well as somespecialities from Angus beef. Here we also organize weddings, birthday parties, anniversariesand other sorts of gatherings.
Rooms
At the moment we have six well equipped apartments for four or six persons. They all havetheir own kitchen, bathroom, TV and central heating.
Business area
In the Castle Prestranek there are several small conference room for approximately 30persons, all equipped with all the necessary for lectures, conferences, meetings…
Horses
In the property of Castle Prestranek we breed Icelandic horses and we keep stables and a ringfor sport horseback riding.
This covered riding ring of 40x60m with excellent floor cover provides our horses with anoutstanding stability. Ring is directly connected to stables and so provides comfort in badweather conditions as well.
Icelandic horses are of smaller growth than horses, but their nature is very kind, strong andsensible. They are known as horses that try to please the rider and they are easy to ride andmost of all easy to handle. This is why they are suitable for beginners and children.
Besides horses you can also see an amazing cattle. The Castle Prestranek is in the directvicinity of village Orehek where a farm for raising Angus beef cattle is. This is a rare exampleof this breed in this part of Europe.
Angus cattle is known to be outdoors all year long and is feeding with only what it findsoutside on the meadow. This is why their meet is known as bio-meet.
To revive a child in us
The Notranjska region where theCastle Prestranek is located, is thehome of our legend of Martin Krpan.He was the strongest man ever knownin this part of the world who wasmaking his living with smuggling ofEnglish salt (gun powder). WhenAustrian Empire was in dangered bythe giant called Brdavs, the Emperorcalled Martin Krpan to defeat him.And of course, he succeded. As a signof appretiation and greatfulness the
Emperor gave him a licence to sellEnglish salt in the entire Empire.In his honour and memory there areyearly games where we surch for thestrongest man on Earth.
Development possibilities
Because of its position, natural beauties and historical importance, the CastlePrestranek has a great potential for development. There have been made severalprojects of possible growth.Since the wide spread property, there are many options for building new capacities.One must just keep in mind that some areas are meant to be left untouched.In the direct surrounding of the Castle building there are possibilities to expand thecomplex. Most projects were made with a vast wellness area and congress centres.As the property would be able to take more people (our projects all include 100 – 200rooms) so the entire touristic offer would improve.Because of the location in the centre of nature it is easy to develop a tourism that isrelaxation – recreational oriented.
On the other hand, the vicinity of our capital and all other big cities (Ljubljana,Portorož, Triest, Udine, Venice, Rijeka, Pula, Zagreb, Klagenfurt, …) is also a pluswhen you think of congress tourism.It all depends on the investor, what kind of preferences he will have.To help you build an idea, we are attaching some drawings and photos of our Castlein its existing state.
