DO YOU have an interest in... Managing research on, and developing advanced energy technologies? Analyzing U.S. energy systems and markets and working with regulators, businesses and govern- ments to improve the reliability, resilience, efficien- cies and cost effectiveness of electricity? Facilitating emergency planning, preparation and response to natural disasters and man-made threats to critical energy infrastructure at home and abroad? Providing business and administrative expertise in the areas of security, human resources, budgeting, communications, logistics, and training to support efforts to address our nation’s energy challenges? OUR MISSION is to lead national efforts to modernize the electric grid. Through the integra- tion of research, planning and analysis we work to create a future electricity system that is less vulnerable to disruption, more efficient, and is designed and operated to serve the new markets and energy demands of the 21st century. OE MAY BE THE PLACE FOR YOU The U.S. electricity delivery system and the fossil fuel, nuclear and renewable energy resources we use to generate electricity are essential to our economy. By 2030 America is expected to consume 25% more electricity than we do today even with advances in energy efficiency. As demand grows and stresses our energy systems, we must deal urgently with protecting and strengthening an infrastructure that was not built to accommodate new energy technologies, limit greenhouse gases, or withstand natural and man-made threats that come with climate change and global terrorism. The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability (OE) is at the forefront in finding solutions to these problems. MAKE A DIFFERENCE A modern, electric grid that can deliver electricity reliably, responsibly and efficiently is fundamental to building clean and efficient energy sources. You can make a difference by joining OE in transforming the grid, and in doing so: Transform the way we generate and use energy – build the next generation of “Smart Grid” technologies to improve reliability and enable consumer choice; Develop energy storage technologies and other tools to integrate renewable energy into the grid; Work with state partners to meet new transmission needs; and Enhance the security of our energy infrastructure by addressing cyber security threats and speeding recovery from natural disasters like hurricanes. President Obama has said, “Our future is what we build it to be.” At OE, YOU can help us build a clean energy future.
