Upgrade of AtoN Package & Telemetry System for existing CALM Buoys

© 2016 PMAPI All Rights Reserved www.automaticpower.com

PMAPI is an Engineering company that can be your technological partner for modernizing/upgrading existing CALM buoys from different manufacturers

A basic navigation system (typically consisting of EX Solar Panels, battery systems, fog horn & 5NM yellow lantern) can be updated to a more modern system incorporating: A telemetry system for remote monitoring &

command from the control station Upgrade of the solar system to include a Radar

beacon (RACON), Fog detector, Meteorological system, AIS (Atonis) and other complementary systems

FA-249 Gimbaled 15 NM

LED Gimbaled Lantern is the technological solution to the problem posed by the movement of large navigation buoy, CALM buoy, floating production systems (FPSO) and tension leg platforms.

This Gimbaled Lantern maintains its optic in a vertical position for inclinations of +/‐ 9° (18° total). This assures the full light intensity is continually available in the most severe sea conditions

Master Telemetry Unit

MTU is typically presented in a 19” rack fitted with a highly specialized industrial PC, printer, programmable logic controller, set of high performance radio modems and supplementary electronic circuitry. In most cases this is in a remote location connected to the buoy via RF link or fiber optic cable, depending on the local topology and geography.

Includes all the control, alarming, trending and data logging features. All designs are tailored to customer specifications.

Telemetry, data transmission from buoys to onshore station, including hawser sensor, open/close valves, emergency shut-down, etc. All controls based on PLC technology;

independent controllers for turntable and hull

HMI/SCADA series of PLCs in the remote telemetry unit Acquire and process this raw data and map it

wirelessly Uses the serial or Ethernet connections and

protocols via UHF for display on HMI/SCADA computer terminals

Important parameters are updated every few

seconds with system-critical information Sub-second responses in ideal conditions and not

exceeding two seconds Less consequential data is updated less frequently

or polled, improving the efficiency of the communications

Telemetry, control, and data transmission from the tanker for emergency control of the hawser sensor, open/close valves, emergency shut-down, etc. Provides a means of monitoring the

offloading vessel and functions as a radio repeater in case of radio communication disruptions
