Maybe only the queen of the cashew fruit could open the summer 2013 show of Isolda to tell the tales that Alessandra Affonso Ferreira reveals through her clothes. The character who serves as reference is Domitila, the mistress of Dom Pedro I who fell for the exuberance of the cashews, guavas, bouganvilles and blends these motifs to the barroc and geometric Portuguese tiles creating very modern looks.

Returning from last Paris Fashion Week fascinated by the “tarmac show” she saw in the streets of the French capital, Alessandra found inspiration in Maranhão (northern state of Brazil) where she spent part of her early childhood for her paintings and the result you can see in the collection: Brazilian themes and sophistication – chic with a kick!

Once again, the designer experiments between the handmade and the high tech with her designs starting with watercolors which are then worked on the computer and digitally printed onto the finest fabrics – triple crepe silk, organza, chiffon, satin – and for the very first time she used a great thick cotton.

Alê creates her pieces thinking of an urban easy chic woman who finds pleasure in dressing up for the daily “tarmac show”. “I design for the woman who has fun with her closet, she could either go to the street market or have blood marys on a Saturday and go straight to a cocktail, a vernisage. The Isolda clothes are occasionless to any generation and timeless”, says the designer.

The 80’s, maxi and mini skirts, the midi and maxi dresses, trousers, fitted and oversized tops both with high necks and squared shapes make up the spring/summer 2013 collection of the brand. Each piece is made with the best quality imported fabrics, lined in silk with much love and care since the very first flick of Alessandra. We promise you’ll want to wear it far beyond summer!
