Academics in Aix

Study in France at one of the oldest universities in the region, the University of Aix-Marseille III also boasts one of the finest French-language teaching centers in the country, the Institut d'Etudes Françaises Pour Etudiants Etrangers.

As a CEA student, you can study French at all levels (4 levels, subdivided in 2 or 3 sub-levels) at the language center for a quarter, semester, academic year or summer program.

•Reading, writing, speaking and oral comprehension are all integral parts of the academic program.

Follow the bronze markers that retrace the path of the painter Paul Cézanne, the son of Aix-en-Provence. Vivienne, CEA'son-site director, can teach you about the life of Cézanne and his paintings as you walk in Cézanne's footsteps.

Hike Cézanne's favorite subject, the mountain Mont Sainte Victoire. It's only a bus ride away and it's a perfect way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon with your friends from CEA!

Take a tour of the city and discover the history of Aix'sone hundred fountains.

Savor the fresh produce and the flower markets that line the streets on your stroll to school.

Meet the CEA students in the evening at one of the CEA apartments and let Vivienne teach you how to cook like a real Provençal!

• In 1839 one of its most famous children was born, the painter Paul Cézanne. Aix adopted the writer Emile Zola who extracted from his memory of Aix, the scenario of Plassans, cradle of the Rougon-Macquart.

• Lyric Art Festival, Aix offers to worldwide music lovers, a prestigious setting, completely renovated : the baroque palace of its Archbishops.
