This powerful quote from Mahatma Gandhi embodies the essence of what every stakeholder of Jewish Family & Children’s Service (JFCS) of Southern New Jersey believes is the vision for our agency. Where we see need, or an opportunity to bring light to another, we respond with heart, integrity, and compassion. Every supporter, volunteer, and member of our board and staff work in concert to create positive change and to empower all who walk through our doors. Our core programming of Counseling, Senior Services, Special Needs, Volunteer, and Family Assistance provides healing for individuals who face a variety of challenges and obstacles. It is only with the support of this community that JFCS has been able to offer critical services, guidance, and hope to thousands of individuals for over 70 years. Together, we truly care for those in need. This year, our Betsy and Peter Fischer Food Pantries assisted thousands of individuals who were food insecure with nourishment and a chance to live a fuller life. Through generous donations and food drives from supporters in the community, we were able to not only give sustenance, but also an opportunity to address overriding issues. Café Connection, a program created in tandem with the Katz JCC and Jewish Senior Housing and Healthcare Service, has already welcomed over 50 individuals with memory loss and their care partners, for mornings full of art, coffee, and smiles. When we were approached to offer a program that would support those who have difficulty coping with degenerative eye issues, we created our new Loss of Vision Support Group. And, when the unsettling rate of youth suicide began to affect South Jersey, we partnered with the Cherry Hill Police Department to introduce This Life Counts, an awareness and prevention program for parents, tweens, and teens to learn tools and resources to prevent the unthinkable from happening. Finally, with the unemployment rate for individuals with disabilities still unacceptably high, 26 new businesses joined forces with our Special Needs Supported Employment Program to employ JFCS clients. We are proud of what we have accomplished. Looking forward, JFCS, along with all of our partners, will continue to strive to be an instrument of change and a beacon of hope for those in need. On behalf of the clients we serve, thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world, right here in Southern New Jersey.
