Peace and all Good!

With this beau ful Solemnity of Christ the King, we bring our liturgical year to a close. However, today’s feast transforms our image of Christ the King—what makes him “kingly”. Rather than calling up images of Jesus Christ dressed in royal purple, the Gospel pro-claims it is the sign over his head on the throne of the wood of the cross—Jesus Nazarenus Rex Judaeorum—Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews. May our prayer be that of the good thief on the cross: “Jesus remember me when you enter into your kingdom.” Today, The Holy Father will close the Holy Door at the Va can and with that concludes this Holy Year of Mercy. We too will close this Holy Year with a special ritual a er the 10:00 a.m. and Noon Masses. We will process to the Mission Church and walk through the Holy Doors to end this yearlong celebra on of God’s mercy. May we con n-ue to be open to the mercy of God and be compassion-ate toward others. This Thursday is Thanksgiving Day—a day for all of us in this country to give God thanks for what we have re-ceived and to share of our abundance. We will have a lovely bi-lingual Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Please bring non-perishable foods to Mass with you, which will be given the needy. Thank you. Finally, I wish to thank the Growing in Faith Commi ee and their helpers for making our five week “Soup and Study” of Ma hew’s Gospel such a success! Each week some 80 parishioners a ended the presenta ons! It was quite edifying! Thanks to all. I hope our study helped aid in some way your spiritual growth in Christ. Love,

COLLECTIONS—WEEK OF NOV. 1-12

Above is the collec on for the first two weeks of No-vember. While we are running a li le short, our collec-

ons for All Saints/All Souls Day surpassed budget by over $1,000.00 - thank you! That helped bring our total collec ons closer to budget. But that also means our reg-ular Sunday collec ons are lagging. We added a few more online/EFT donors, which is always great news! Many people don't realize the ease with which you can start, stop or change your thing when it is done elec-tronically. Please consider this form of giving and feel free to contact Elizabeth Rose, 760-547-0711 and/or [email protected], if you have any ques ons or concerns. Have a great week!

Actual Budgeted Under/Over TOTAL COLLECTIONS $61,537.43 $65,747.44 -$4,210.01

CLOSING of the HOLY DOORS I wish that the Jubilee Indulgence may

reach each one as a genuine experience of God's mercy, which comes to meet

each person in the Face of the Father who welcomes and forgives, forge ng com-pletely the sin commi ed. – Pope Francis,

Le er to Archbishop Rino Fisichella, Sept. 1, ‘15.

TODAY, SUNDAY NOVEMBER 20, 2016, a er the 10am and 12noon Masses, there will be a celebra on for the Closing of the Holy Doors, and end for the Jubilee Year of Mercy.

BI-LINGUAL TAIZE PRAYER AROUND THE CROSS 7:00 P.M. ALL WEDNESDAYS OF ADVENT

me with the Lord. We will gather in a candle lit church to sing some lovely chants from the village of Taize, France and hear the Word of God. And a er some moments in

silent prayer, we will come around the Taize Cross for a moment of venera on. Hope to see you there!

S T E W A R D S H I P T H O U G H T Be a Good Steward of Thanksgiving Day

Your Thanksgiving Day can be more than just enjoying a great meal and turning on the television to search for the tradi onal parades and football games. How about expressing your stewardship of this day in a more mean-ingful way? Here are four sugges ons for making Thanksgiving an opportunity for expressing our gra tude to the Lord in crea ve ways: ⃝ Go to Mass and count your blessings. Start the day off

on a posi ve note and celebrate the Eucharist. In your prayer reflect on five things you are most grateful for in your life. Then reflect on how you can be an even be er steward of these gi s.

⃝ Share your Thanksgiving meal with someone who is alone this Thanksgiving. Look for someone, such as a neighbor, co-worker, fellow parishioner, college stu-dent or armed services personnel who may be separat-ed from family and ask them to join in your Thanksgiv-ing dinner.

⃝ Help someone if you can. Extend your generosity and blessings beyond your own family. Be part of an adopt-a-family effort, help distribute food baskets, or bring canned foods or clothing to St. Vincent de Paul cen-ters.

⃝ Most important! Take advantage of the Thanksgiving holidays to focus on what you’re grateful for and the things you appreciate about yourself and others. It is an ideal me to remember and to celebrate the many blessings in our lives.

que acoge y perdona, olvidando com-pletamente el pecado come do.

Papa Francisco, Carta al Arzobispo Rino Fisichella, Sept. 1, 2015.

Actual Presupuesto Debajo/Sobre
