PENUNTUN UNTUK PEMAKAI USER MANUAL

Buku keterangan ini adalah penjelasandari Peta Satuan Lahan dan Tanah lem-bar Toboali (1112), Sumatera, sekala1:250.000.

Legenda peta berisikan satuan lahanyang merupakan satuan geomorfik dandibatasi dengan cara menginterpretasifoto udara, citra satelit dan citraRadar. Isi dari tiap satuan lahandiperiksa di lapangan dan kemudiandicatat. Hanya sebahagian dari semuainformasi ini disajikan dalam peta,sedangkan sebahagian lagi diberikansecara ringkas dalam Buku Keteranganini ; informasi yang lebih lengkapdapat tersedia jika diminta.

Simbol peta menunjukan grup fisiografi(huruf besar), tipe batuan (hurufkecil), dan pembagian lebih Ianjutberdasarkan atas lereng dan tingkattorehan (pada daerah berlereng danangkatan) atau berdasarkan lingkunganpengendapan/hidrologinya (pada daerahaluvial resen dan marin), yang ditun-jukan oleh angka. Huruf kecil yangberada dimuka kode grup fisiografimenunjukan adanya tutupan dari bahanlain, seperti tutupan abu volkan padaperbukitan dari batuan sedimen ataulapisan bahan organik tipis padadataran aluvial.

Grup fisiografi tersebut adalah :Kubah Gambut, Aluvial, Marin, TerasMarin, Dataran Tuf Masam, Dataran, TufMasam Toba, Volkan, Karst, Perbukitan,Pegunungan/Plato dan Aneka Bentuk.Grup Dataran Tuf Masam, Tuf MasamToba, Volkan, Kubah Gambut dan Karstpembagiannya didasarkan pada tipebatuan dan morfologi yang spesifikyang hubungannya erat dengan sifattanah yang spesifik. Grup yang lainnyasebahagian besar hanya berdasarkanpada morfologi.

Untuk semua sàtuan lahan, data keadaantanah dan hubungan tanah dengan ben-tang alam disajikan pada Uraian Satuan

This booklet is an explanation of the1:250,000 scale Land Unit and Soil mapof the Toboali mapsheet (1112),Sumatra.

The legend of the map consists of LandUnits, which are geomorphic units,delineated by interpretation of imagessuch as aerial photographs, satelliteimagery and Synthetic Aperture Radar.The contents of each of the units ischecked in the field and recorded.Only part of this information can berepresented in the map; the remainderis briefly documented in the presentexplanatory notes, and more completeinformation is available upon request.

Hap symbols indicate physiographicgroup (capital letter), rock type(lower case letter), and subdivisionsaccording to slope and dissection (insloping and uplifted areas) or tosedimentary/hydrological environment(in recent alluvial and marine areas),indicated with numbers. Lower caseletters preceding the physiographicgroup code are used to indicate coversof material with differing composi-tion, such as volcanic ash covers onhills of sedimentary rocks, or thinpeat on alluvial plain units.

The physiographic groups are : PeatDomes, Alluvial, Marine, Marine Ter-race, Acid Tuff Plains, Plains, TobaAcid Tuff, Volcanic, Karst, Hill,Mountain/Plateau and Miscellaneous.The Acid Tuff Plain, the Toba AcidTuff, the Volcanic, the Peat Domes andthe Karst group are based on rock typeand specific morphology, with a closelink to specific soil characterestics.The other groups are largely mor-phological .

For all land units, data on soils andsoil/landscape relations are presentedin the Land Unit Descriptions. These

Lahan. Uraian satuan lahan inimerupakan bagian terpenting dari BukuKeterangan ini sebab semua informasiyang diperlukan untuk mengevaluasisetiap satuan lahan untuk penggunaantertentu ada disini.

Semua informasi geografik dapatdiperoleh dalam format komputer(didigitasi ) . Semua data utatna daritanah (dari profil yang dianalisis)juga disimpan dalam komputer dan dapattersedia bagi para pemakai yang memer-lukan. Pada tahap selanjutnya,perangkat lunak untuk evaluasi lahanyang mempergunakan parameter parameteryang ada pada uraian satuan lahan akansegera disediakan oleh Proyek Pen-gelolaan Data Base Tanah (PDBT).

Permintaan untuk penilaian KesesuaianLahan dari tiap satuan lahan untukberbagai keperluan dapat diajukan kePusat Penelitian Tanah, Bogor.

All geographic information is avail-able in computer (digitized) format.All primary soil information (analyzedprofiles) is also computerized and canbe made available to the user. At alater stage, land evaluation softwarewhich uses the parameters listed inthe Land Unit Descript ions will bemade available by the Soil Data BaseManagement Project (SDBM).

Requests for suitability ratings ofthe land units for various purposescan be submitted to the Center forSoil Research, Bogor.

1. PENDAHULUAN 1. INTRODUCTION

1.1.Latar belakang

Buku Keterangan dan Peta Satuan Lahan& Tanah ini merupakan sebaglan has ilakhir survëi tanah tinjau Sumatra yangdilaksanakan untuk Proyek Perencanaandan Evaluasi Sumber Daya Lahan dandiprakarsai tahun 1988 oleh PemerintahIndonesia serta dibiayai oleh BankPembangunan Asia.Pelaksanaan survei dilakukan antarabulan Februari dan Maret 1989 oleh TimSurvei Tanah dari Pusat PenelitianTanah (PPT), sedangkan korelasinyadilakukan pada bulan JanuariFebruari 1989.

1.2.Konsepsi legenda

Legenda untuk survei ini didasarkanpada pendekatan satuan lahan. Pen-dekatan ini dlanggap paling sesuai un-tuk survei ini , sebab pada sekala1:250.000 dengan intensitas pengamatanlapangan yang kurang, semua batassatuan dapat ditarik dengan caramenginterpretasi citra. Legenda satuanlahan memungkinkan adanya pembatasansetiap satuan dengan sembarang ukuranyang masih dapat dipetakan (tergantungskala peta) dengan memanfaatkan nama-nama morfologi sederhana danberulang. Pendekatan ini menunjangStruktur hirarki dan merupakan sistemterbuka sehingga dapat diperbaharuisesuai dengan penerapannya di In-donesia; ia tidak memuat parameteriklim (parameter iklim disimpan dalamdata base terpisah dan dapat digabungdengan data base satuan lahan).Tambahan pula legenda satuan lahanerat hubungannya dengan legenda ter-dahulu di Indonesia mengenai bentuklahan, sistem lahan dan satuan lahantanpa k e l i r u p e n g g u n a a n n y a(Desaunettes, 1977; RePPProT, 1985-1988; Kips et al. , 1981) .

Satuan Lahan ini diberi batasan berupalahan dimana satu atau lebih komponen-nya mempunyai ciri-ciri khusus danmerupakan satuan lingkungan dengansembarang ukuran yang dapat dibatasipada peta. Satuan terkecil yang masih

This explanatory booklet and the in-cluded maps are part of the finalresults of the reconnaissance soilsurvey of Sumatra, which was carriedout for the Land Resources Evaluationand Planning Project (LREP), initiatedin 1988 by the Goverment of theRepublic Indonesia and financed by theAsian Development Bank.The sheet was surveyed betweenFebruary and March 1989, by teams ofthe Center for Soil Research (CSR).Hap correlation was carried out inJanuary - February 1989.

1.2.Legend concept

The legend for this survey is based onthe Land Unit approach. This approachis considered most suitable for thissurvey, because at a scale of1:250,000 , with low-density fieldchecks, all unit boundaries are ob-tained by image interpretation. Theland unit legend allows the delinea-tion of mappable units of any size(depending on map scale), it makes useof morphologic'.j. names which aresimple and recurrent, it supports anhierarchical structure, it is an opensystem that can be amended for useanywhere in Indonesia, and it does notcontain climatic parameters (theclimatic parameters are stored in aseparate data base which can be com-bined with the land unit data base).

Furthermore, the land unit legend isclosely related to previous Indonesianland form, land system, and land unitlegends (Desaunettes, 1977; RePPProT,1985-1988; Kips et al., 1981) withoutbeing confusing.

A Land Unit is defined here as an areaof land of which one or more at-tributes have special characteristics,and it refers to an environmental unitof any size that can be delineated.The smallest unit that can be

dapat dibatasi tanpa menghiraukansekalanya berukuran 2 mm lebarnya bilabentuk memanjang dan kurang lebih 3sampai 4 mm bila berbentuk bulat. Padasekala 1:250.000, suatu satuan yangmembulat dengan diagonal 4 mm meliputikurang lebih 80 ha.Satuan lahan dikelompokkan dalamgrup-grup f isiografi dan kadang-kadang dibagl lagi kedalam sub-grup.Untuk informasi lebih lengkap, lihatpada Buurman et al (1988) dan Balsemet al . (1989)

1.3.Struktur legenda satuan lahan

Semua satuan lahan diberi kode berupahuruf dan angka/dijit; masing-masingdengan konotasi khusus tergantungtingkat klasifikasinya.

1.3.Structure of the land unit legend

All mapping units are coded by meansof a sequence of characters anddigits, each with its specific con-notation which depends on its level inthe classification.

Example: Au.l.1.3 -Broad AlluvialPlain; levee/spillway.

Struktur legenda disusun demikian rupasehingga lanskap datar, melandai, ter-toreh, bergunung, dsb. dengan mudahdapat dipilih oleh komputer. Strukturini langsung berkaitan dengan potensilahan untuk pertanian.

2 . METODOLOGI

The legend structure is such, thatflat, sloping, dissected, mountainouslandscapes, etc. , are easily selectedby computer. The structure is directyrelated to agricultural potential ofthe land.

2 . METHODOLOGY

2.1.Peta dasar

Peta dasar untuk keperluan pencetakanPeta Satuan Lahan & Tanah disediakanoleh BAKOSURTANAL. Untuk lembar petaini, peta dasar yang digunakan adalahpeta JOINT OPERATIONS GRAPHICS (JOG),Lembar SB48-15, Seri 1501, Edisi 2,Toboali yang dikeluarkan oleh RoyalAustralian Survey Corps, 1982.

2.1.Base maps

Base maps for the printed Land Unitand Soil map were provided by BAKOSUR-TANAL. For the present sheet, the basemap was the Joint Operations Graphics(JOG), Sheet S348-15, Series 1501,Edition 2, Toboali, published by TheRoyal Australian Survey Corps 1982.

2.2.Interpretasi citra 2.2.Image interpretation

Survei tinjau ini sebahagian besardidasarkan pada interpretasi citra danbatas-batas satuan sesungguhnyaditarik berdasarkan citra. Macam citrayang digunakan adalah sebagai berlkut:

-potret udara hitam/putih sekala1:100.000, Angkatan Udara Australia1976 (umumnya kualitas rendah karenadicetak berulang kali dan pemrosesanyang kurang baik).-LANDSAT komposit warna (band 4-5-6)sekala 1:250.000 tahun 1985 yangdiperoleh dari LAPAN (kualitas ber-variasi, sekala kurang teliti).-citra Radar stereo STAR-1, 1988(cetakan hitam putih, kualitas takoptimal).

2.3.Survei dan data lapangan.

Pelaksanaan survei tinjau dapat dibagidalam beberapa tahapan kerja:

1. penelaahan data dan informasi daripeta dan laporan tersedia.

2. interpretasi citra dan penetapandaerah kunci

3. pengamatan lapangan dan pemasukandata ke komputer

4.penyusunan satuan lahan danpemasukan data ke komputer.

5.analisis contoh tanah6.melengkapi uralan satuan lahan

dengan data analisis.7. korelasi/verifikasi lapangan8. produksi peta akhir9.dijitasi peta dan pemrosesan data

base lainnya.

Semua pengamatan di lapangan (pemborandan profil) dicatat, diberi kode dandimasukan sesuai dengan prosedur stan-dar PDBT, seperti diuraikan dalamLaporan Tehnis PDBT No.5 (Balsem etal., 1988). Kode ini terutama diadap-tasi dari standar FAO dan USDA (FAO,1977; SCS, 1978; Gallup, 1978).

Contoh tanah yang représentatifdianalisis sifat-sifatnya seperti yangdisajikan pada Tabel 2 .

The surveys are extensively based onimage interpretation and virtually allunit boundaries are imagery-based. Thefollowing imagery was used:

- 1:100 000 scale black/white aerialphotography, Australian Airforce,1976, (usually poor quality due torecopying and poor processing).

- 1:250,000 LANDSAT colour composites(bands 4-5-6), 1985, obtained fromLAPAN (varying quality, inacuratescale).

- 1:250,000 STAR-1 stereo Radar im-agery, 1988 (black/white positiveprints, quality not optimal).

2.3.Field survey and field data

The implementation of the reconnais-sance survey can be split up into anumber of essential steps :

All observations in the field(auger ings and profile pits) weredescribed, coded and entered accordingto standard SDBM procedures asdescribed in SDBM Technical ReportNo.5 (Balsem et al., 1988). Thesecodes are mainly adapted from standardFAO and USDA codes (FAO, 1977;SCS,1978; Gallup, 1978).

Representative soils were analyzed forthe properties listed in Table 2.

Uraian satuan lahan berupa uraian umumyang dibuat untuk setiap satuan peta.Uraian yang dibuat ini merupakangeneralisasi dari beberapa pengamatan.Atribut satuan lahan (lihat pada 5.2)digunakan untuk evaluasi lahan ybs.S t r u k t u r u r a i a n s a tuan lahandidasarkan pada suatu cara yang telahdipublikasikan oleh RePPProT (1988)dengan beberapa tambahan. Disampingdari pengamatan di lapangan dalampenyusunan uraian satuan lahan ini,

Land Unit descriptions are generaldescriptions which are made for eachof the mapping units. Such descrip-tions are generalizations of point ob-servations. The land unit attibutes(5.2) are used for land evaluation.The s t r u c t u r e of the land unitdescriptions is based on those pub-lished by RePPProT (1988) with amend-ments. In addition to the field obser-vations, the following sources were

juga dipergunakan beberapa informasilain terutama dari :

- Semua laporan survei yang tersediadari daerah ybs.(Gambar 5).

2.5. Data base dan pengolahan data.

Seperti disebutkan diatas, semua datalapangan dan analisis disimpan dalamdata base. Data base yang utama ialah:-pengamatan lapangan (pemboran danpenampang tanah).-data analisis-uraian satuan lahan

Data base pengamatan lapangan berisisemua parameter yang dapat diukur dilapangan dari setiap tempat peng-amatan. Yang didiskripsi dan disimpanadalah nomor tempat/site, tempat,lereng, vegetasi/penggunaan lahan dansemua sifat-sifat tanah yang diukur dilapangan seperti Struktur, porositas,tekstur, warna, dll. (lihat LaporanTeknis No 5a, Versi 1.1, (Baisem etal. , 1988).

Data base analisis berisi semua hasilanalisis kimia, fisika dan mineralogiserta semua data hasil perhitungandari analisis ini yang biasanya diper-gunakan untuk menilai kesuburan atauklasifikasi tanah (Lihat LaporanTeknis No 7a - Buurman, 1988; LaporanTeknis No 17 - Muslihat et al., 1989).

Pada data base pengamatan lapangan dandata base analisis, data dapatdikeluarkan dengan cara memanggil/menuliskan nomor pengamatan, nomorlembar peta, satuan pada legenda, ad-ministrasi (kabupaten atau provinsi)atau dengan yang lainnya yang diten-tukan oleh koordinat geografik.

Data base uraian satuan lahan berisiuraian umum dari tiap satuan peta un-tuk seluruh Pulau Sumatera yangdikatalogkan menurut lembar peta.

2.5.Data bases and data processing

As mentioned above, all field andanalytical data are stored in com-puterized data bases. The main databases are :- field observations (auger and pit).- analytical data- land unit descriptions

The field observations data base con-tains all parameters that weremeasured in the field, for each of theobservations sites. Described andstored are site number, location,slope, vegetation/landuse and all soilproperties that are measured in thefield, such as structure, porosity,texture, colour etc (see TechnicalReport No 5 - Balsem et al., 1988)

The analytical data base contains allresults of chemical , physical andmineralogical analy ses and allproperties used for fertility ap-praisal or class ification, that arecalculated with these analyses (seeTechnical Report No 7 - Buurman, 1988;and Technical Report No 17 - Muslihatet al., 1989).

In both the field observations and inthe analytical data base, data can beretrieved by observations number, map-sheet, legend unit, administrativearea (province, kabupaten), and otherareas defined by geographic coor-dinates.

The land unit description data basecontains the general description ofeach mapping unit for the whole islandof Sumatra, catalogued by mapsheet.

Uraian umum berasal dari penyeder-hanaan semua pengamatan pada seluruhsatuan peta, termasuk ana l i s i slaboratorium dari profil yang lain.Parameter yang disimpan berisi semuainformasi yang diperlukan untukpenilaian evaluasi lahan ( l iha tLaporan Teknis No 13 - Balsem & Buur-man, 1989). Uraian satuan lahan darisemua satuan peta yang terdapat dalamlembar peta ini disajikan pada Lam-pi ran 1.

2.6.Relaibilitas peta

Relaibilitas dari peta tergantung padabeberapa faktor seperti: kerapatanpengamatan, keragaman tanah, kualitasdari citra penginderaan jauh, lokasidari titik pengamatan atau daerahkunci, ketepatan dari batas tanahmaupun batas satuan lahan, tingkatpengetahuan dan pengalaman surveyor.Tidak semua dari faktor faktor inidapat diukur dan karena itu harusdiperkirakan.

Berdasarkan faktor faktor tersebutdiatas, terutama kerapatan pengamatan,maka diperkirakan raengenai relai-bilitas peta, dan untuk itu dibagimenjadi 3 grup (Gambar 2).

The general description is derived bygeneralizing information of all obser-vations within the mapping unit, in-cluding laboratory analyses ofseparate profiles. The parametersstored contain all the informationnecessary for land evaluation proce-dures (see Technical Report No. 13 -Balsem & Buurman, 1989). The land unitdescript ions of all mapping unitsrelevant to the present sheet arelisted in Appendix 1.

2.6. Map reliability

The reliability of a map depends onmany such factors as observation den-sity, soil homogeneity or complexity,quality of the remote sensing imagery,the location of sample/key areas, ac-curacy of soil units and soil bound-aries, the level of education and theamount of experience of the soil sur-veyor'. Not all of these can bemeasured and so they have to be es-timated.

Based on the above mentioned factorsmainly on observation density, threeclasses of map reliability have beenestablished (Figure 2).

3.2.Sumber Informasi

Dal am pelaksanaan survei dan pemetaantanah tingkat tinjau ini sumber infor-masi yang telah digunakan adalah petatopografi, peta geologi, potret udara,c i t r a landsat, c i t ra Radar sertabeberapa peta dan laporan survei ter-dahulu sebagai nara sumber.Disamping peta topograf i skala1:250.000 (BAKOSURTANAL, 1986)digunakan pula peta topografi berskala1:50.000 (1975) yang diperoleh dariJantop TNI AD. Lembaran peta dannomornya disajikan pada Tabel 3.

Peta geologi yang digunakan ialah Petageologi skala 1:250.000 dari PusatPenelitian dan Pengembangan Geologi

Bandung lembar Toboali tahun 1978.Potret udara yang dipakai ialah potretudara hitam/putih skala 1:100.000(Royal Australian Air Force, 1976)berkualitas rendah sampai sedangdengan tutupan awan Ik. 10%. Ikhtisarjalur terbang dan nomor photo di-sajikan pada Gambar 3. Sumber infor-masi lain yang dipakai ialah dariCitra Landsat dan Radar seperti di-sajikan dalam Gambar 4.

Beberapa laporan survei tanah ter-dahulu beserta peta tanahnya telahditelaah dalam pekerjaan kompilasidata untuk memperkokoh data base tanahdaerah ybs.Gambar 5 menyajikan lokasi daerah sur-vei tersebut, sedangkan judul laporansurvei dicantumkan pada daftar pus-taka.

4. KEADAAN UMUM FISIK DAERAH

4.1. Fisiografi

Bentang alam daerah lembar petaToboali dapat dibedakan kedalam LahanBasah (Lowland), Lahan Kering (Upland)dan Perbukitan. Lahan Basah selanjut-nya dibagi lagi menjadi Grup KubahGambut, Grup Marin dan Grup Aluvial,sedangkan Lahan Kering terdiri dariGrup Dataran.

Lahan Basah (Lowland f

Lahan. Basah yang termasuk kedalam GrupMarin menempati daerah sepanjang pan-tai dengan lebarnya bervariasi antara2.5 dan 35 km. Daerah lahan basah inimerupakan hasil dari proses sedimen-tasi marin dan perimarin (delta dankuala) dan secara jelas dapat dibuk-tikan dengan adanya pelebaran pantaiyang disebabkan oleh penambahan bahanendapan dan proses angkatan.

Tambahan pelebaran pantai padabeberapa tempat di Lampung diper-kirakan sekitar 15 meter per tahun.Semua endapan marin diendapkan padalingkungan daerah bergaram atau payau,dan sebagai hasilnya, umumnya tanahnyamasih mengandung garam, terutama pada

daerah yang masih muda. Karenasebagian besar daerah ini mempunyaidrainase terhambat, tanahnya umumnyabelum matang atau setengah matang(half ripe). Tergantung vegetasi as-linya dan dimana daerahnya banyak men-gandung pirit, maka akan terbentuktanah sulfat masam atau potensial sul-fat masam.

Daerah-daerah yang dekat dengan pantaidan sepanjang sungai akan dipengaruhioleh pasang surut. Daerah demikianbiasanya ditumbuhi vegetasi nipah ataumangrove dan tidak tergenang padawaktu surut. Daerah yang jauh darilaut menjadi rawa permanen dan ber-sifat payau, dan umumnya ditumbuhioleh hutan gelam atau vegetasi rendahseperti rumput. Hutan lebat hanyadijumpai pada daerah marin tua, dimanasemua kadar garam terlarutnya telahtercuci.

Di bagian selatan peta dijumpai sisajalur beting pantai dan cekungan(beach ridges and swales). Jalur initerdapat agak jauh dari laut dansebagian tidak memanjang garis pantaidan telah tererosi. Beting pantai tuaini umumnya telah kehilangan karbonatyang turun kebawah sampai permukaanair tanah, dan tanahnya telah meng-alami perkembangan. Perkembangan tanahini pada daerah cekungan tidak nyata.

Pada garis pantai, Grup Marin ditandaioleh adanya dataran mangrove dantanahnya belum matang. Daerah rawaluas antara jalur mangrove dan betingpantai tua kemungkinan mengandungbahan organik yang cukup tebal ataumempunyai tanah-tanah yang serupadengan tanah-tanah pada dataranmangrove. Daerahnya basah sepanjangtahun.

Daerah yang termasuk Grup Aluvialdijurapai disebelah barat dari GrupMarin, terutama di bagian selatanpeta. Grup Aluvial ditandai olehadanya pelembahan aluvial luas danpelembahan erosif di daerah Dataran.Pelembahan aluvial luas (A.1.2)terutama membentuk rawa belakang yangluas yang selalu jenuh air. Tanahnya

sebagian belum matang dan kadang-kadang ditutupi oleh bahan organiktebal.

Tanggul sepanjang sungai utama sedikitlebih tinggi letaknya dari rawabelakang, dan terbentuk dari bahan en-dapan halus. Tanah-tanah di daerah inihampir serupa dengan tanah pada rawabelakang, hanya drainasenya lebih baiksedikit.

Pelembahan aluvial di daerah Dataranumumnya erosif dan hanya sedikitmengandung bahan endapan.

Kubah gambut dijumpai pada bagianutara lembar peta ini dan luasnyacukup besar. Dibandingkan dengan pan-tai disebelah utara seperti di Riaudan Jambi, kubah gambut disini relatifterbatas penyebarannya dan ketebalanbahan organiknya lebih tipis. Secaraumum dapat dikatakan bahwa ketebalanbahan organik bertambah jika makinjauh dari sungai. Lapisan liât dibawahlapisan bahan organik umumnya mengan-dung pirit dan karenanya terbentuktanah-tanah potensi sulfat masam.

Lahan Kering (Uplands)Lahan kering hanya diwakili oleh satuGrup Fisiografi, ialah Grup Dataran.

Tanah-tanah pada Grup Dataran terben-tuk dari bahan bukan volkan dari zamanTersier, yang umumnya berasal darilaut dangkal. Di lapangan tidak selaludapat dengan mudah dibedakan daribahan Dataran Tuf Masam yang sudahlapuk, raeskipun sifat kimia danmineraloginya berbeda, nyata. Tutupanbahan ignimbrit Kuarter menipis dariTeluk Lampung menuju arah utara danhanya ditemukan di bagian barat lautlembar peta ini.

Karena Dataran punya sejarah yangcukup kompleks, banyak sisa tandaproses pembentukan tanah dijumpai,seperti tutupan konkresi besi, lapisanplintit, dll. Pada beberapa daerah,dijumpai sisa dari teras sungai.

Di lembar peta ini, kisaran ketinggiandari Grup Dataran antara 10-70m diatas

muka laut.Pembagian lebih lanjut dari GrupDataran berdasarkan morfologi bentangalam dan tingkat torehan. Karenaproses pembentukan tanah jauh lebihtua dari proses penorehan (erosi),maka perbedaan adalah antara profiltanah lengkap (tererosi sedikit) padadaerah punggung, dan profil tanahtererosi ringan sampai berat padalereng. Tanah hidromorfik terdapatpada lereng bawah/ perali'han ke lem-bah.

Tanah umumnya mempunyai perbedaantekstur yang nyata antara horison Adan B dan karenanya diklasifikasikansebagal 'Kanhapludults'. Tanah yangtelah tererosi umumnya diklasifikasi-kan sebagai Dystropepts sedangkan yangterkena pengaruh genangan air sebagaiTropaquepts. Sifat-sifat kimia daritanah-tanah ini umumnya miskin danmempunyai kadar aluminium yang cukuptinggi pada lapisan bawah.

Pada bagian yang lebih tua dari GrupDataran, tanahnya sudah mengalamiperkembangan lanjut dan diklasifika-sikan sebagai Oxisols (Hapludox).

PerbukitanPerbukitan pada lembar peta ini hanyaditemukan di Pulau Bangka danmerupakan sisa intrusi sienit yangterdapat di Batuampar sebelah utaraj a l a n a n t a r a Pampangan danTulungs e 1apan ( b a r a t l a u t PulauBangka). Intrusi batuan plutonik inimuncul dipermukaan sebagai singkapandiantara sedimen Palembang.

Bentuk wilayah intrusi sienit terdiridari bukit-bukit kecil terpisah(.isolated hillocks). B e r d a s a r k a nadanya singkapan batuan plutonik didaerah ini dapat diduga bahwa gejalatersebut merupakan akibat prosespeneplainasl.

Tanah diatas sienit umumnya mempunyaiperbedaan tekstur yang nyata antarahorison A dan B dan diklasifikasikansebagai Ultisol. Tanah yang telahtererosi diklasifikasikan sebagai In-ceptisol.

4.2. Geologi

Formasl geologi didaerah yang dicakuplembar peta ini termasuk dalam Pre-Tersier, Tersier dan Kuarter.

Pre-TersierFormasi batuan plutonik sienit (pTsy)dan Formasi batuan plutonik granit(pTgr) serta Formasi batuan metamorfikskis termasuk dalam Pre-Tersier;formasi-formasi tersebut masing-masingterdapat di Batuampar (utara jalanTulungselapan-Pampangan dan di utaradan selatan Toboali (Pulau Bangka).Ketinggian tempat intrusi sienit dangranit antara 30m (utara Pampangan)dan 292m (timurlaut Toboali); skisBangka terdapat antara 10 dan 25m dpi.

Batuan sienit menempati inti antik-linal dan tertutup oleh Formasi Palem-bang bawah. Batuan granit sekitarToboali tergolong amfibolgranit ber-butir sedang sampai kasar dan tidakmengandung kasiterit (oxida timah).Skis Toboali yang umumnya berwarnahijau muda mengandung mika, khloritdan talk.

TersierFormasi Palembang Anggota Bawah (Tmpl)dan Formasi Palembang Anggota Tengah(Tppp) mewakili sedimen Tersier didaerah peta ini. Formasi-formasi inimasing-masing disebut Formasi AirBenakat dan Formasi Muara Enim.

Formasi Palembang Anggota Bawah yangterdapat di baratlaut terdiri daribatulempung, serpih- dan batupasirglaukonitan yang merupakan endapanlingkungan neritik. Batulempung ber-selingan dengan batupasir lempunganglaukonitan. Tmpl di selatan Batuamparyang mempunyai kemiringan lapisankeselatan sebesar 1 sampai 7% merupa-kan sayap antiklinal yang bersumbukira-kira timur-barat.

Formasi Palembang Anggota Tengah(Miosen Atas - Pliosen) yang sebagianbesar terdapat di tengah dan selatanterdiri dari batupasir, batulumpuryang banyak berselingan dengan lapisanbatubara. Tppp di bagian atas umumnya

terdiri dari endapan air payau dan en-dapan rawa dengan lapisan batubaraseperti yang terdapat di sekitar MuaraEnim. Tppp terletak selaras pada Tmpl,sebaliknya Tppp tertutup tak-selarasoleh Tuf Ranau. Ketebalan Tpppdiperkirakan berkisar antara 600 dan800m.

KuarterKuarter terdiri dari formasi Tuf Ranaudan Aluvium termasuk Holosen.

Formasi Tuf Ranau (Qrv) terdäpat diutara Pematangsipanggang membujur ketimurlaut. Formasi Tuf Ranau berupatuf lempungan, tuf liparit mengandungkuarsa, blotit dan plagioklas masamdan berasal dari pusat erupsi DanauRanau (lembar Kotabumi) yang terletakdi baratdaya. Tuf di pusat erupsimenunjukkan perlapisan dan bersusunanbiotit liparit dengan kandungan yangsama seperti Qrv di lembar Toboali,namun dengan kandungan fragmen batu-apung, sanidin dan magnetit.

Ketebalan tuf ini di dekat pusaterupsi ± 150-200 m dan menipis keutara dan timurlaut sampal ujungnyayakni Qrv di daerah ini. Qrv ditutuptak-selaras oleh endapan Holosen.

Aluvium terdiri dari pasir, debu, liâtdan bahart organik yang merupakan en-dapan subresen dan muda denganpenyebaran paling luas di dataran ren-dah pantai dan pasang surut, pelem-bahan sungai, rawa belakang dan ce-kungan.

4.3. Hidrologi

Secara keseluruhan kawasan timurSumatera, Pulau Bangka dan P.Belitungserta pulau-pulau lalnnya menunjukkanciri-ciri tenggelamnya dataran rendahdibawah permukaan pada zaman Kuartertua. Maka oleh sebab itu, daerah agakdatar dan keadaan tata air di daerahdatar ini dikendalikan oleh gradientkecil sehingga drainase terhambatdengan akibat penggenangan yang luasdan bersifat permanen. Keadaan inidominan terjadi di rawa belakang dan

cekungan di sekitar Way Mesuji danSungai Lumpur.

Berdasarkan pengaruh pasang surutdataran rendah dapat diidentifikasisebagai daerah yang sedikit atau samasekali tanpa pengaruh pasang surutyakni jalur aliran sungai perenial dantawar, dataran banjir musiman, rawabelakang air tawar bergambut masam;batas kawasan ini dengan pengaruhpasang surut sangat ditentukan olehjauhhya intrusi pasang besar di musimkemarau dan desakan balik air- sungaiwaktu musim penghujan (NEDECO, 1981).

Oleh sebab itu sungai-sungai yangrelatif pendek dengan desakan airtawar kurang kuat untuk menekan airlaut, kemungkinan besar pengaruhpasang surut terasa jauh ke pedalaman,a.l dapat diamati pada Sungai Mesujidan S.Lumpur yang tergolong pendek.

Dataran rendah yang langsung terkenapasang surut di daerah ini tampakjelas yakni sejauh alur-alur pasangsurut (tidal kreeks) yang panjangnyaantara 2 sampai 5 km, bahkan ada yang10 km lebih: dari selatan ke utaraSungai Siburbesar, S.Jerwu, S.Lebong-hitam, S.Riding dan S.Pidada..

Daerah yang relatif kering adalahdataran Formasi Palembang yang agakmeninggi dibandingkan daerah tergenangdi sekitarnya. Daerah pematang. bagianselatan merupakan dataran berombak,didrainase oleh Sungai Mesuji dancabangnya a.l. S.Dabukputih, S.Dabuk-item, S.Talangbatin, yang berpoladendritik. Daerah pematang di tengahdan di utara didrainase a.l. oleh Sun-gai Jeruju, S.Pasir, S.Selapan danS.Belidang (keduanya cabang S.Lumpur)yang dendritik.

Keadaan tata air dl daerah PulauBangka sekitar Toboall berbeda antaradaerah granit dan skis yang umumnyaberdrainase baik dan dataran rendahyang berdrainase terhambat dan bahkansetempat-setempat tergenang permanendan musiman serta daerah pantai denganpengaruh pasang surut.

5.SATUAN LAHAN

5.1.Satuan lahan dan tanah.

Seperti telah disebutkan pada bab ter-dahulu, satuan lahan yang dijumpaipada lembar peta ini dapat dikelompok-kan kedalam 5 grup fisiografi, yaituGrup Kubah Gambut, Grup Aluvial, GrupMarin, Grup Dataran, Grup Perbukitandan Grup Aneka Bentuk (Gambar 6). Padasetiap satuan lahan umumnya ditemukanlebih dari satu satuan tanah (padatingkat Great Group), dan agarmemudahkan pembacaannya maka setiapsatuan tanah yang dijumpai pada setiapsatuan lahan ditentukan luas penye-barannya secara kualitatif, yaitu:

-Sangat dominan: apabila penyebarannya>75% dari luasan satuan lahan.-Dominan: apabiia penyebarannya antara50-75% dari luasan satuan lahan.

-Cukup: apabila penyebarannya antara25-50% dari luasan satuan lahan.-Sedikit: apabila penyebarannya antara10-25% dari luasan satuan lahan.

-Sedikit sekali: apabila penyebarannya<10% dari luasan satuan lahan.

Dibawah ini akan diuraikan mengenaikeadaan tanah yang dijumpai padasetiap grup fisiografi.

Grup Kubah GambutDi daerah ini dijumpai kubah gambutoligotropik air tawar dan yang ter-pengaruh air asin, terbentuk di daerahyang relatif cekung sehingga daerahnyatergenang sepanjang tahun. Dalamlingkungan demikian sisa tumbuhansukar hancur dan menumpuk sebagai gam-but dengan atau tanpa campuran endapantanah mineral. Ketebalan gambut ber-variasi antara 0,5 dan 4m. Bentuk per-mukaan seperti kubah dengan perbedaantinggi tidak melebihi 10 m.

Bahan organik telah mengalami dekom-posisi menjadi hemist dan sapriscserta diperkirakan komposisi abunyatidak kaya akan unsur-unsur hara(oligotrofik). Bahan mineral di bawahgambut umumnya miskin unsur, khususkalau teksturnya kasar. Bahan halusdari sedimen marin umumnya lebih kaya,

tetapi sering raengandung pirit. Jenistanah yang mendorainasi satuan lahanini adalah Tropohemists dan Sul-fihemists.

Daerah ini pada umuranya untuk jangkapendek tidak mempunyai nllai untukdikembangkan sebagai daerah pertanian.Kecuali sesetempat di bagian pinggiryang ditempati jenis tanah Tropaquentsdapat dijadikan untuk areal persawahanlebak dalam luasan yang sempit dandengan pengendalian air yang baik.

Penghambat utama di daerah ini adalahkandungan unsur hara/miskin, ketebalangambut dan genangan permanen sertabahaya keracunan pirit (Sulfihemists).

Grup Aluvial.Tanah tanah pada grup fisiografi iniumumnya berkembang dari bahan endapanhalus dan Hydraquents merupakan tanahyang dominan dijumpai pada DataranAluvial Luas (A.1.1), sedangkan tanahyang lainnya ialah Tropaquents, Fluv-aquents, Tropohemist dan Sulfaquents.Hydraquents merupakan tanah yang belummatang, kandungan airnya tinggi dandrainasenya sangat terhambat. Tingkatkesuburannya tidak begitu menjadimasalah dimana diantaranya mempunyaikadar P total dan nllai KapasitasTukar Kation tinggi.

Tanah tanah pada Lembah Aluvial Luas(A.1.2) cukup bervariasi, yaitu Trop-aquepts, Tropaquents, Fluvaquents,Sulfihemist dan Dystropepts . Jugaberkembang dari bahan endapan halus.

Diantara semua tanah ini maka Sul-fihemist yang terutama akan menjadimasalah bagi pertanian yaitu mengan-dung kadar pirit cukup tinggi yangakan membahayakan tanaman. Tanah lain-nya yang menjadi masalah hanya per-soalan drainase yang termasuk terham-bat sampai sangat terhambat, kecualiDystropepts mempunyai drainase baik.

Grup Marin.Pada Grup Marin tanah yang palingbanyak di jumpai adalah Hydraquents,Sulfaquents dan Sulfihemists sedangkanyang lainnya adalah Fluvaquent s danTropaquents. Terbentuk dari bahan en-dapan halus. Sifat s i fa t dan per-masalahan tanah Hydraquents saroaseperti Hydraquents yang di jumpai padaDataran aluvial luas. Seperti halnyapada Dataran aluvial luas, maka tanahtanah yang terutama menjadi masalahialah Sulfo/Sul fihemist dan Sulfa-quents yang mempunyai kadar piri t yangcukup tinggi yang akan membahayakantanaman jika daerahnya dibuka dandidrainase, karena akan memberikan pHyang sangat rendah.

Grup Dataran.Tanah tanah didaerah ini umumnyaberkembang dari batuan pHimen halusmaupun kasar yang berasal dari forraasiPalembang Tengah dan Bawah.

Menurut k las i f ikas i USDA tanah yangbanyak dijurapai di daerah Dataranialah Kanhapludults, Dystropepts danTropaquepts, dimana tanah yang d i -s e but kan pertama mend orai nasi dal ara halpenyebarannya. Kanhapludul ts umumnyadijumpai didaerah punggung yang agakdatar, Dystropepts pada bagian lerengdan Tropaquepts pada daerah pelem-bahannya.

Secara morfologis tanah-tanah yangberkembang dari batuan sedimen inidapat dikelompokkan dalam 3 kelompok.yaitu :

1. Tanah tanpa adanya lapisan kongkresiFe diantara kedalaman 120cm dari per-mukaan tanah.

2 . Tanah dengan lapisan kongkresi Fediantara kedalap'an 120c m dari per-raukaan tanah.

3. Tanah dengan lapisan pl int i t padalapisan bawah diantara kedalaman bO-120 cm.

Tanah tanah ini umumnya sudah sangattua dan 1apuk. Penyebaran ket igakelompok tanah dia tas pada t ingka tpeme taan yang sekarang susah un tukdiketahui penyebarannya karena memer-

lukan penelitian lebih detai l .

Adanya lapisan kongkresi Fe padadaerah perakaran pada penampang tanahakan sangat menganggu pertumbuhan akartanaman. Adanya lapisan pl in t i t jugakurang baik bagi tanaman, karena jikalapisan ini kontak dengan udara akanmenjadi sangat keras. Jadi pada tanahtanah yang mengandung lapisan pl in t i tharus diusahakan pengolahan tidak sam-pai pada lapisan tersebut.

Disebutkan d i a t a s Kanhapludultsmerupakan tanah yang mendorainasidaerah in i . Perrnasalahan utama daritanah i n i i a l a h mempunyai n i l a iKapasitas Tukar Kation yang rendah.yaitu <16 cmol(+)/kg l i â t . Tanah-tanahini kurang dapat nenyimpan pupuk jikadilakukan pemupukan. sehingga carapemberian pupuk pada tanah ini mtujadimasalah yang utama. Salah satu caranyaialah dengan raemberikannya secara ber-tahap. Salah satu cara mengatasi ren-dahnya n i l a i Kapasitas Tukar Kationini ialah dengan penambahan bahan or-ganik.

Tanah lainnya yang di jumpai ialahHapludox. Permasalah tanah Hapludoxhampir saraa dengan Kanhapludultsseperti telah diuraikan diatas yaitumasalah Kapasitas Tukar Kation.

Grup Perbukitan.Tanah-tanah yang terdapat pada daerahperbukitan berkembang dari batuanplutonik intermedier. Umumnya tanahnyasudah cukup berkembang dan d i k l a s i -fikasikan sebagai Hapludults. Padadaerah yang sudah te re ros i dijumpaitanah Dystropepts. Pada daerah grupPertukitan ini banyak dijumpai batu-batu dipermukaan (seki tar 40-60%).Akibat banyaknya batu-batu ini makadaerah ini kurang berpotensi untukdi.kembangkan sebagai daerah pertanian.disamping luasannya yang hanya 1 .080ha.
