    5.000 BC: Britain finally became an island.

    AD 61: Boadicea, Queen

    of the Iceni, led her tribeagainst the Romans andnearly drove them out ofBritain, however, she wasdefeated and killed.

    AD 865: The Vikings invaded Britain

    AD 886: Alfred recaptured London from theVikings and they came to an agreement.

    The Vikings AD 1040: Edward The Confessor was named

    King of England.

    AD 1066: Edward died and Harold Goodwinsonwas named King by the witan

    Harold defeated The Danes in Yorkshire, but TheNormans, under the command of Williamdefeated and killed him

    William was crowned King of England, afterLondon gave in.
