Brighsun Electric Vehicles Road Test

In December 2006, BRIGHSUN electric vehicles travelled over accumulated route of 1,470 kilometers. This was the longest successful test of an electricly operated commercial in China and possibly the world.

Plateau Test

On the 27th of April 2007, the vehicle finished its 6 day trial which started from Beijing and ended at the Tibet Plateau, via Shijiazhuang Hebei, Taiyuan Shanxi, Suide Shanxi, Ningxia, Lanzhou, Xining Qinghai, Gegeermu, the cradle land of the Yangtze River – Tuotuo River in geographical sequence. The performance test has been undertaken at Corfe off Mt. Kunlun and Mt. Fenghuo, with elevations of 4767 meters and 5010 meters respectively.

The electric operation: was normal, battery: normal; internal electronic components including highly sensitive transducer: normal; the energy management system: was also normal; in summary the dynamic property of the entire vehicle and its parameters during operation: were normal.

Test Results in 2006 In May 2006, The China Motor-Vehicle Safety

Appraisal and Inspection Centre inspected our electric vehicle’s mass parameter, driving ranges and specific energy consumption, maximum speed, braking length and the variation of the battery's temperature.

The test results reveal that its maximum driving range is 548.9 km, the energy consumption under an average speed of 60 km/h is 8.02kwh/100km, the top speed is102.km/h, braking length is 11.7 m when travelling speed is on 50 km/h.

2007 Test Results In April 2007, The National Passenger Car Quality Supervision and

Inspection Centre, and passenger car fixed inspection authoritative institution, completed the inspection of electric sedans and buses in this project and the results exceeded the national standards.

Test Results: (1) electric buses ( passenger load 47+1+1) : Battery: 330 v, 600A, lithium ion battery. Main body: XMQ6119T Duration of Charging: 5-7 hours, charging voltage: 220v, maximum

driving range: with a speed of 40 km/h, can travel 529.5 km, maximum speed of 70.8km/h.

(2) electric sedans (5 passenger load ) Battery: 264v, 150A, lithium ion battery. Duration of Charging: 5-7 hours, charging voltage: 220v, maximum

driving range: with a speed of 60 km/h, can travel 569.2 km, the maximum speed is 113.1km/h.

Price-performance Ratio Comparisons: Electric and Motor Car

1. Choosing 200,000 km is according to the current minimum charging life span of a lithium battery, as consuming 10 kilowatts/hour for every 100 km.

2. The Commercial electricity off peak hour (from 11 pm to the next day 7am) price in Beijing, is 0.21 RMB per kilowatt/hour, most of the public buses and taxies do not operate during this period, the operation costs would be much lower if charged during this period.

3.electric vehicles do not need a mechanical service including the engine, transmission, clutch and gear-box, therefore they have a lower failure rate and service and maintenance fees can be reduced by more than 70%.

It can fully replace those driving systems with engine, gasoline and diesel fuel as a sole power source. BYD Company Limited: Relying on the continuous accumulation in mobile energy and motor-vehicle industry, it has managed the core technique of electric vehicles - electro kinetic cells. BYD Company Limited exhibited its latest research findings in Shanghai: BYD electric vehicles F3e in Beijing's International Car Exhibition in 2006. F3e installs the first ferruginous electro kinetic cell in the world – ET-POWER, and it is alleged have a traveling range of up to 300 km. However, according to latest reports no production timetable has been announced.

Foreign Electric Vehicles - France

France: Already has more than ten cities that operate electric

vehicles and relatively effective service facilities such as charge stations; it’s government is the leader of electric vehicle use. France is the leader of the world in batteries, electric control systems and electric motor techniques, thus providing the technical foundation in developing electric vehicles. The French electric motor-vehicle market is relatively mature, establishing many large charge stations over various locations.

Foreign Electric Vehicles - Japan

Japans Toyota Motor Company’s hybrid vehicles have a long lead on research and development of next-generation eco-friendly cars. On the 26th June 2006, Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd recently had referred 10 experiment electric vehicles – Subaru Rile to Tokyo Electric Power. This vehicle is jointly developed and researched by Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd and Tokyo Electric Power, the cost of production per vehicle is about 5,000,000 to 6,000,000 Yen ( 1 USD ≈116.5 Yen).

Currently, these two companies are increasing efforts to develop an electric vehicle with cost of production of about 3,000,000 Yen. However, the development and research of electric vehicles is faced with the twin difficulties of high cost of production and short battery lifespan, but they are still trying to developing high-energy and low cost lithium ion batteries.

Foreign Electric Vehicles - Norway

Norway: The electric vehicle manufacturers Think

Global exhibited a model of a new generation Think Global electric vehicle in Oslo in March, 2007. This type of two-seater vehicle is assorted with double air bags and ABS, which complies with the safety standards of EUR and the USA. The maximum speed is 100km/h.

USA: GM Co Ltd. has set up an objective of

manufacturing full electric vehicles in 2010.
