While preparing her brasserie’s stylish dining room for

Valentine’s Day, Pascaline suddenly gets confronted with

her lover of 20 years ago. Her patrons that evening also

cope with the unexpected. Bored housewife Rose tells her

husband that she has a lover. Mia intends to commit suicide,

until she’s courted by the waiter. And inconspicuous civil

servant Walter is wrecked by insecurity when seated in

front of the woman of his dreams.

ABOUT THE PRODUCERWriter-producer Jean-Claude van Rijckeghem has written or co-written more than 10 screenplays and two acclaimed historical novels for young adults. Van Rijckeghem founded the production outfit A PRIVATE VIEW in 1994 and runs it with producer Dries Phlypo. Together they have produced over 20 feature films. Phlypo also (co-)produced several short films including the Academy Award nominated films Tanghi Argentini (2007) and Na Wéwé (2010).A PRIVATE VIEW has been responsible for big hits in Belgium – and abroad – such as Hans Van Nuffel’s Oxygen, which won the Grand Prize and the Ecumenical Jury Prize at the 2010 Montreal World Film Festival, and Moscow, Belgium, winner of three awards at Cannes in 2008.Van Rijckeghem has recently finished a script called Vincent and the End of the World to be directed by Christophe Van Rompaey (Moscow, Belgium, Lena), which they will begin shooting next year. A PRIVATE VIEW is currently also developing Marry Me, the second feature by Turkish-Belgian director Kadir Balci (Turquaze).

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR After graduating from the RITS School of Arts in Brussels, Joël Vanhoebrouck built up an impressive list of credits, first as a location manager and then as assistant director. He worked on both Flemish and French-speaking productions, with directors ranging from Bouli Lanners and Philippe Blasband to Tom Barman and Jan Verheyen.Working with Verheyen on the feature film Gilles resulted in an offer to join the film and TV series Missing Persons Unit, initially as assistant and then as episode director. After that, Vanhoebrouck directed episodes of crime series Code 37 before being given a chance to steer a series on his own, Double Life, a character-based drama set in a small city between Brussels and Antwerp. Brasserie Romantique is Vanhoebrouck’s first feature film.
