Borough of Caldwell Caldwell, New Jersey See inside for updates from Borough Hall, The Caldwell Community Center, The Caldwell Library and around your town. Spring, 2017 From Mayor Ann’s Desk Spring is the season of new beginnings and so it seems an appropriate time to launch Connections, a newsletter for and about Caldwell. The Town Council members and I hope you enjoy this inaugural issue! While the Borough of Caldwell has a quaint “Mayberry” feel and is just 1.2 square miles, many are amazed to learn we are a community made up of over 7,800 residents, one of whom was Grover Cleveland, the 22 nd and 24 th President of the United States, whose boyhood home still stands on Bloomfield Ave. We are also home to the thriving Caldwell University, a beautiful Olmstead Park, a Carnegie Library, in the heart of our downtown and various picturesque houses of worship. Our schools are outstanding and our homes are set on beautiful tree-lined streets. We truly are the hidden gem of Essex County! I’d like to thank the contributors to this newsletter, including our volunteer Official Town Photographer, Janet Markman, who supplied the cover photograph of one of our town banners. I hope you enjoy reading about your town and all it has to offer! - Mayor Ann Dassing Pickleball is new at the Caldwell Community Center. It is offered on Mondays and Wednesdays 11-12 and Tuesday nights 6-7. Participants have to register for a six week session and they are absolutely loving it. It is a tennis-type game played with a wiffle ball and a wooden paddle-type racquet. It is all the rage. See page 4 for more Caldwell Community Center news.
